Ibb... 819 crimes and violations committed in the governorate during the first half of the current year

A report issued by the Monitoring Unit in the Media Center of the Resistance in Ibb revealed a number of crimes and violations committed against civilians during the first half of this year in Ibb governorate, which is under the coup authorities.

The report mentioned 819 security crimes and violations, from January 1 to June 30, 2018, most of which were crimes committed by the Houthi coup militia, as well as security crimes and chaos run by armed gangs linked to senior leaders within the group.

The Center noted that the statistics provided by the Media Monitoring Report were far less than the actual crimes and violations occurring in the governorate, and what was monitored is what the Monitoring Team could able to document, noting that many other crimes were not documented due to security conditions and difficulties that stand in the way of the monitors as well as the fear of the families of the victims who are forced not to speak about the crimes committed against their parents.

Crimes committed against individuals

The report revealed crimes committed against individuals represented in the form of murders, injuries, kidnappings and financial blackmails.

In this regard, the report said that the governorate witnessed about 242 murders and injuries, ranging from 94 murders to 148 crimes, most of them were crimes of security chaos and disputes related to lands, which the militia is often a party in it through its direct participation in the dispute or through fueling those disputes and bias for one of the parties to the dispute.

The report also revealed that the Houthi militia kidnapped 227 citizens during the same period, as part of its intensive campaigns, the most prominent of which were the armed campaigns launched by the militias on a number of the governorate's directorates for the abduction of citizens who refuse to join their ranks as fighters, in addition to travelers kidnapped from directorates such as Nadirrah, Shi'irr and Sabarrah, as well as members of the General People's Congress Party who were kidnapped after the events of December, which lasted for months, also the abductees of opinion, activists and opponents of the Houthis in the governorate.

The report added that the Media Monitoring Team documented 78 crimes committed by the militia such as a crime of financial blackmail and the imposition of financial fees on merchants, sellers and owners of institutions, through which it earned tens of millions for its benefit under many names, including the war effort and the revival of sectarian events.

Violations committed against houses, institutions and properties

Many crimes were committed on houses, institutions and public and private properties in the governorate during the first half of the current year was a total of 272 crimes and violations.

In detailing those crimes and violations, the report said that the militias raided 157 houses, shops and institutions, and documented the looting of 63 houses, shops and institutions of the total the raids, including the looting of humanitarian aid of international organizations.

The report included statistics of cases of assault and armed robbery against private properties, most of which were robberies and assaults on lands, cemeteries and government institutions that has reached according to the report 49 cases of aggression.

The report revealed that the militias blew up a house of one of its opponents in the directorate of Fara al-Audain and the demolition of two houses in the area of Muthaikhirah and Saiiani.

The militias continue their violations and crimes against civilians and opponents in the province amid a total inability of local and international human rights organizations to carry out their duties to the victims, in view of the violations and harassment of these organizations, making their work difficult in such circumstances.
