The Association of Abductee's mothers said that the Houthi coup militia abducted 157 Yemeni women in two years.
In its statement issued today, Monday, the Association added that the Houthi militia is arresting women for reasons, including demonstrating to demand an improvement in the living situation or because of a difference of opinion, political affiliation, and movement between governorates.
The Association revealed that it had documented the exposure of 18 women of the kidnapped women in the prisons of the Houthi militia to verbal violence, the threat of sexual abuse, physical violence, denying them contact with their relatives to inform them of their exposure to detention, not releasing them except after paying large sums of money and undertaking them not to participate in any activity in the future, pointing out that the Houthi militia sometimes arrests women’s relatives, instead of them.
The statement stated that the Houthi militia has fabricated charges of prostitution for some detained women, with the aim of isolating them from society and prolonging their detention.
The Association pointed out that the psychological methods of torture used by the Houthi group against detained women and the harsh treatment against them caused a decline in the margin of freedoms and doubling of the social fabric rupture.
There are still dozens of women abducted in the prisons of Houthis, some of whom have passed about two years, according to human rights reports.
