Four Yemeni political parties called on the UN Special Envoy to Yemen, Martin Griffith, to visit the city of Taiz, which is suffering from siege and war by the Houthi militias.
Leaders of the Yemeni Islah Party, the General People's Congress, the Yemeni Socialist Party and the Nasserite Popular Unity Organization held a meeting in the Chinese city of Shanghai on the sidelines of the dialogue conference is being held between the Communist Party of China and political parties in the Arab countries.
The meeting of the Yemeni parties issued a statement, in which they called on the UN Special Envoy to Yemen, Martin Griffith, to give more attention to the humanitarian situation for the besieged city of Taiz, as well as work to lift the siege and stop the constant shelling of neighborhoods and houses by the militias of the coup.
The political parties' statement mentioned that there is an opportunity to put the issue of siege and war in Taiz on the table of consultation and research during the meeting to be held next Thursday in the Jordanian capital Amman, in order to prepare for the next round of the political consultations. In addition to the possibility of discussing measures that would lift the siege of the city and stop the killing of its people by the Houthi coup militia supported by Iran.
The parties demanded that the local authorities, military and administrative leaders in the governorate of Taiz to accelerate the implementation of the agreement of "al-Khyami" which determined to end the tension between the factions of the army and the resistance in the city of al-Turbah, south of the city of Taiz.
The four parties ordered their branches' officals to follow up and support the local civilian and military authority in Taiz governorate to implement the agreement and withdraw under the minutes of the agreement.
The meeting was attended by the Secretary-General of the Yemeni Islah Party, Abdul Wahab al-Anisi, deputy Secretary-General of the Yemeni Socialist Party Muhammad al-Mikhlafi, Assistant Secretary-General of the General People's Congress Party Sultan al-Barkani and member of the Central Committee of the Nasserist Popular Union Organization Abdul Malik Al Mikhlafi.
