Member of the Supreme Authority of the Yemeni Islah Party, Head of the Parliamentary Bloc, MP Abdul Razzaq Al-Hajri, met Thursday evening with the United Nations envoy to Yemen, Hans Grundberg.

At the beginning of the meeting, MP al-Hajri welcomed the new envoy, wishing him success in his duties.

He stressed that the Islah Party supports the efforts of the United Nations to bring peace to Yemen, wishing that international efforts would succeed in obligating the Houthis to stop their violence and terrorism, end the coup and stop the war launched by the Houthi group on the Yemeni people, which is continued to target civilians and displaced persons in Marib, Taiz, Al-Dhali' and Hodeidah and other areas.

Al-Hajri made it clear that the three references, foremost of which is UN Resolution No. 2216, constitute a basic ground for achieving comprehensive and sustainable peace, explaining that international leniency towards the coup and the resulting war and crimes against civilians have encouraged the Houthis to commit more crimes and escalate their violence against Yemeni society to achieve political gains.

He pointed out that the extremist ideology of the Houthi militia prevents it from inclining to peace, pointing out that the militia adopts a violent approach in imposing its racist ideas that clash with the identity of society and the lowest principles of human rights.

Al-Hajri touched on the destruction of the state’s components by the Houthi militias, the destruction of social peace and the end of political life, where this approach is an Iranian project that must be confronted by the international community.

For his part, the international envoy affirmed his understanding of the Yemeni file and that his mission is focused on stopping the violence and finding a future prospect for stability.

Hans Grundberg praised the positions of the Islah Party in support of efforts to achieve peace in Yemen, explaining that it is working to listen to all political parties.
