The head of the Parliamentary Bloc of the Yemeni Islah Party, Parliamentarian Abdul Razzaq al-Hajri, confirmed that the Presidency of the Parliament will hold its meetings in Seiyun, according to what was agreed upon in a previous meeting, and that it is about for arranging for the Parliament's sessions in any governorate.

In an interview he gave to the official Yemen channel, on Wednesday evening, al-Hajri said that the return of the Presidency of the Parliament to Seiyun is not just to register attendance, but to start arranging the convening of the sessions of the Parliament.

Al-Hajri expressed the members of the House of Representatives' readiness and that they are motivated to return to any governorate, noting that the obstacle is neither the Parliament nor its members, stressing that the government's responsibility lies in providing the appropriate venue for the meeting.

Al-Hajri expressed the representatives’ aspiration that the brothers in Saudi Arabia would provide assistance, where they had provided a lot of assistance in the past, and that the efforts of the House of Representatives convening would result in the coming days to perform its role in convening its permanent sessions.

He announced the readiness of the members of the House of Representatives to hold the sessions of the House, even under a tent, anywhere in the Republic of Yemen, stressing that the lives of Representatives are not more precious than the lives of honorable Yemenis who sacrifice their lives for the sake of Yemen and the pride and dignity of Yemenis, adding: "If we do not support them, we do not deserve to be in this place."

He explained that the natural thing is for the leadership of the state and all its institutions to be inside the country, considering that what is happening now is just an exception and incorrect.

He continued: "The President of the Republic, the government and the parliament are supposed to return to Yemen," considering that what was done by the Presidency of the House of Representatives, which arrived in Seiyun, is a step in the right direction, and comes within the implementation of what was agreed upon with the presidency of the parliamentary blocs at the beginning of last June in Cairo.

He pointed out that the agreement stipulated that the Presidency of the Parliament hold its sessions inside Yemen, in preparation for the Council's convening in the coming days in one of the liberated governorates, noting that more than two years have passed since the Council held its session in Seiyun in April 2019.

The head of the Parliamentary Bloc of the Yemeni Islah Party touched on the obstacles that prevented the parliament from reconvening in some liberated governorates, pointing out that the security obstacle was one of the concerns.

And he continued: "Members of Parliament are not more valuable than the people who are facing the terrorist Houthi gang and sacrificing their lives in order to restore the republic, the state and the freedom of citizens."

He regretted the existence of other obstacles, such as the events that occurred in Aden last year and led to the exit of the government, pointing to the great efforts made by the brothers in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, which resulted in the Riyadh Agreement, which represented hope for stability and led to the participation of the Southern Transitional Council in the government for its and the House of Representatives return.

Al-Hajri MP added saying: “But unfortunately, there was a stumble in the implementation of the agreement for a long time, and then came the last acceleration path, according to which the government returned and was unable to continue again.

He expressed his hope that the obstacles will be overcome through the efforts made by the government and the brothers in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to overcome the obstacles, and that the Council will hold its meetings in Aden or any of the liberated governorates so that it can perform its duty to give confidence to the government, hold it accountable and follow up on its work.

And he said that the country is going through difficult circumstances, the biggest of which is the Houthi crime and his overthrow of the country and the state, and accordingly the state's leaders are interested in returning to lead the battle from inside the country.

He added: "The second aspect is the economic disaster that the citizens suffer from, and this disaster has caused the collapse of the Yemeni riyal exchange rate against foreign currencies and the rise in prices, in addition to the Houthi crimes represented in looting citizens' salaries and creating two financial systems, their manipulation of the currency and extortion and looting of citizens."

The head of the Parliamentary Bloc of the Yemeni Islah Party stressed the role of the House of Representatives to carry out its duty to follow the government until it performs its duties and to provide security, stability and services and to stop the economic collapse, as a constitutional, legal and moral responsibility, pointing to the responsibility of the House of Representatives regarding this and holding the government accountable within the oversight tasks of Parliament.

He stressed that "the state will not be restored and the country will not be managed properly while the state's leaders are abroad."

Al-Hajri affirmed that the Council is following up and holding the government accountable, but he said that there is a great weakness through the mechanism that is taking place now, noting the questions that Parliament has asked the government during the last period, explaining that the response was weak due to the lack of presence in the field.
