The Yemeni Coalition for Monitoring Human Rights Violations YCMHRV said that about 4,000 hidden persons are still absent from their families and there is no information about them.

The YCMHRV renewed its call on the Houthi militia and other groups to speed up the release of all forcibly disappeared, compensation and reparation of harm for all those who were forcibly disappeared. Calling on the legitimate government to try and punish the perpetrators of this crime.

"The International Day of the Victims of Enforced Disappearance, 30 August, is a renewed occasion to draw attention to the fate of hundreds of forcibly disappeared persons in secret prisons and places in different regions and governorates of Yemen under the control of the legitimate government and under the control of Houthi militia or irregular groups in a number of Yemeni governorates."

"On this annual international occasion we reiterate our condemnation of this phenomenon, which is a serious violation of human rights law as well as international humanitarian law, which is considered a crime against humanity," it added.

The YCMHRV confirmed that 3,371 people were still being forcibly hidden. Pointing out that it is working with various UN mechanisms in order to deliver the file of a number of those who are forcibly disappeared and continue to follow up this file through all means that will reveal their fate and release them.

The International Day of the Forced Disappeared on 30 August each year is an annual event created to draw attention to the fate of individuals who have been imprisoned in bad places and circumstances, without knowing their relatives or legal representatives about them.
