Chairman of the Supreme Authority of the Islah Party meets the US envoy to Yemen

The chairman of the Supreme Authority of the Yemeni Islah Party, Muhammad Abdullah al-Yadumi, met today, Monday, with the United States' special envoy to Yemen, Timothy Linderking.

The meeting, which was attended by a member of the Supreme Authority, head of the Parliamentary Bloc of the Islah Party, MP Abdul Razzaq al-Hajri, and a member of the Supreme Authority of the Islah Party, Mr. Ahmed al-Qumairi, discussed a number of issues related to the latest developments in the country.

And al-Yadumi praised the efforts of the US envoy and the US position in support of Yemen, as well as its efforts to establish peace and its support in the economic and humanitarian fields.

And al-Yadumi expressed his welcome to the humanitarian truce sponsored by the United Nations, pointing out the continuous violations of the truce by the Houthi militia, stressing the priority of lifting the siege imposed by the militia on the city of Taiz.

And al-Yadumi stressed the need to put pressure on the Houthi militia to release all the abducted, foremost of which the struggling Muhammad Qahtan, a member of the Supreme Authority of the Islah Party, as well as the journalists, abducted since 2015.

The Chairman of the Supreme Authority of the Islah Party praised the Yemeni-Yemeni consultations that are currently being held in Riyadh, which were called for by the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf and hosted by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, hoping that these consultations would produce positive results that would work to consolidate the efforts of Yemenis to restore the state and end the suffering of the people that began with the coup and the war ignited by the Houthi militia.

He stressed that the three references represented in the Gulf Initiative and its Executive Mechanism, the outcomes of the Comprehensive National Dialogue Conference and international resolutions, foremost of which is Security Council Resolution No. 2216, represent the basis for a comprehensive, just and sustainable peace.

For his part, the US envoy to Yemen, Timothy Lenderking, reiterated his country's keenness to achieve peace, security and stability in Yemen, as well as its support for Yemen and its government, expressing his aspiration for the success of the humanitarian truce.

Lenderking expressed his country's support for all efforts for a political solution in Yemen and his wishes for the success of the Riyadh consultations.
