More than 192 thousand crimes and violations committed by the Houthi militia against the inhabitants of the governorate of Hajjah within four years

A recent human rights report revealed 192,475 crimes and violations committed by Houthi militia against the people of Hajjah governorate during four years, starting from the end of 2015 until the end of 2018.

And according to a non-governmental report issued by the Coalition of Civil Society Organizations in the governorate of Hajjah, the crimes and violations committed by the Houthi militias over the past four years have varied to include the murder of 680 civilians, 141 of them women and 463 of permanent and moderate disabilities.

The report pointed out that the methods of the murder carried out by the Houthi militias varied between killing directly in prisons, as human shields or victims of mines and explosive devices planted by the militias.

And according to the report of the Coalition of Civil Society Organizations, 1966 civilians were subjected to abduction and enforced disappearance, including students, teachers and academics. The list of the abductees has included 37 children, 25 women. The Coalition also documented the torture of 810 abductees, 9 of them have been subjected to torture to death by Houthi militias.

During the same period, the Human Rights Coalition said it documented 1.378 raids carried out by Houthi militias, including homes and villages, and the looting of citizens' property. The Coalition also documented exploding of 27 houses carried out by Houthi militias in the governorate. The militia attacked 1.033 mosques and used them to incite, spread hatred, widening the fight space and imposing preachers by force.

The militia has committed serious violations against children. The Human Rights Report documented 10.783 violations, including 3.364 children being recruited and involved in the militia's fighting and the deprivation of 7.100 students of education. The militia also killed 319 children in their futile battles on various fronts. Militias have also created (457) checkpoints and training camps, as well as carrying out military campaigns.

The report also pointed out that the Houthi militias planted 15,800 mines in Hajjah governorate, in addition to looting the salaries of state employees, confiscation of humanitarian relief provided by the United Nations, humanitarian projects, orphans' salaries and social security assistance in the governorate, where the total of the violation status reached 86.384 violations.

The militias sought to undermined the state institutions and administrative arbitrariness, where the team of the Human Rights Coalition has documented 3.957 cases, including intervention in the affairs of the military and security institutions of the state to use them in their favor, the intervention in the powers of the justice and functional exclusion and to replace militia elements instead of 3.000 government employees in the governorate.

And according to the report, more than 2,784 activists, politicians, troops, judges, academics and civic leaders have been subjected to threats of murder, kidnapping or dismissal from jobs by the Houthi militia. The militia also deliberately displaced 81,780 people from their homes to outside the governorate, either because of war, forced displacement or persecution.
