The leadership of the parliamentary bloc of Islah meets the British ambassador and praises his country's support for legitimacy in Yemen

The head of the parliamentary bloc of the Yemeni Islah Party, headed by Mr. Abdul Razzaq al-Hajri, head of the bloc with the presence of the deputy head of the bloc Mr. Enssaf Mayo, on Tuesday, the United Kingdom's ambassador to our country, Michael Aaron.

During the meeting, the two sides discussed the developments in Yemen in light of the al-Houthi group's rejection of the implementation of the Sweden's agreement, the withdrawal from Hodeidah and the humanitarian situation resulting from the war triggered by the Houthi coup.

The leadership of the parliamentary bloc the Islah Party emphasized the party's position to support the establishment of a lasting and genuine peace in Yemen, which ends the causes of the problem of the coup. In this regard, Houthis are required to hand over arms to the state, withdraw from the cities and abandon the idea of the alleged divine right.

The leadership of the parliamentary bloc of the Party pointed to the importance of the role of the five states sponsoring the Sweden's agreement to pressure the Houthi militias to implement the terms of the agreement, stressing the importance of the hierarchy of the solution in Yemen, which requires security and military arrangements before the political ones, which are supposed to be preceded by the abandonment of arms by the Houthis.

The leadership of the parliamentary bloc of the Islah Party has mentioned the practices of the Houthi militia against Yemenis, as well as killings, assassinations, bombing of buildings, and the abduction of activists, politicians and journalists carried out by the Houthis. The parliamentary bloc also called for pressure on the Huthis to complete the file of the exchange of abductees and prisoners, foremost among them the included in resolution 2216, especially a member of the Supreme Authority of the Yemeni Islah Party, Mr. Muhammad Qahtan, as well as journalists in the detention camps of the Houthi militia.

The parliamentary bloc hailed Britain's support for the legitimacy of Yemen and its efforts in the success of the political solution that clashes with the rejection of the Houthis and their circumvention of the agreements they have reached, Britain's positive contribution to the Yemeni affairs and supporting the UN envoy to implement the resolutions on Yemen, leading to a federal state that represents a stabilizing element in Yemen and the region.

The parliamentary bloc pointed out that the political dealings and flexibility by the international community with the Houthi militias encouraged them to continue their coup against the state and use arms to control the power. They stressed that the threat of the Houthi militias is not limited to Yemen, but it poses a threat to the security of the neighborhood, the territory, waterways and threatens peace, security and stability.

The bloc of the Islah Party renewed the party's rejection of any militias or armed groups outside the framework of the state, the need to unify the security apparatuses and disarm the militias in order to strengthen the state's presence and establish security and stability in all areas of Yemen.

The parliamentary bloc for the Islah briefed the Ambassador of the United Kingdom on the arrangements being made to hold parliamentary sessions in the coming period, which strengthening the institutions of the state.

The bloc also renewed the steady stance of the Islah Party and rejection of terrorism in all its forms, where the Islah and its leaders were the most affected by it, stressing the keen on that Yemen does not become a problem for the neighborhood and the region in the future.

The bloc praised the support of the Arab Alliance led by Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates in Yemen for the restoration of the state, and the great efforts made by them in relief and redevelopment in the liberated areas.

For his part, the British ambassador expressed his hope that the Houthis will respond to the withdrawal from Hodeidah and its ports in implementation of the agreement of Sweden, stressing that their response to the implementation of the agreement reflects their desire for a peaceful solution.

He stressed his country's clear position and support for the legitimacy of Yemen and its institutions, and the support of the Arab alliance, pointing to the need for a political solution in Yemen, the return of legitimacy to Sanaa and the building of the rule of law and institutions, and that civil society organizations to be independent and that the economic situation be saved.

He reiterated his country's support for the political solution in Yemen and the implementation of resolution 2216, which forms the basis for the general framework of the solution.

The meeting was attended by the second secretary of political and media affairs at the British embassy in Yemen, Edmund Mills.
