Assistant Secretary-General of the Yemeni Islah Party in the Wadi and Sahraa of Hadhramawt, Engineer Rabie Basyoud, said, "The 22nd of May was a new life and a salvation from the nightmare of splitting, stressing that holding the unity responsible for everything is lay the blame unjustly on it and an escape from the truth and not naming things by their names."

In his post on his official Facebook account, Basyoud added, "The 22nd of May 1990 was our dream, which was realized in restoring Yemeni unity, and it was like a demand and a strategic goal for us as Yemenis with our various affiliations and intellectual and political orientations."

He continued, "Through unity, we hoped that there would be a renaissance, pride, stability, decent living, happy life and a prosperous future for us and our children, and a great and honorable presence among nations."

He pointed out that this is what we were aspiring to, and the equation refers to it and what is confirmed by reality and facts, so after the difference, there is nothing but meeting, and after the division, there is nothing but unity, and after the unity, there is nothing but strength.

He mentioned that the state of amazement, fear and failure to understand what the conditions of Yemen have become today were due to the retreat of some persons or entities from the achievement of unity and striking its most important pillar represented in the republican system, which was the most important goals of the Yemeni revolutions, September and October, which is the feeling and condition of every Yemeni who lived the stage of division with its terrible bitterness that separated between the brother and his brother, separated the Yemeni families from meeting in the same country, there was nothing prevents them to meet each other except the systems and narrow accounts until the dawn of May 22 comes into being, 1990, which was indeed a new life and salvation from the nightmare of splitting.

He emphasized that unity, even if it was a demand and a strategic goal for the peoples, it was a tactic of the ruling elites in the two parts of Yemen, which were soon placed before it, obstacles after obstacles even today it is seen as the first enemy in the backwardness of Yemen big steps back.

And he indicated that the narrow looks now hold the unity responsible for every little and big, and I do not see in that except that it is incrimination and an escape from the truth and not naming things by their names.

Basyoud said that January 13, 1986, was the straw that broke the camel's back, it decimated the tillage and offspring and put the south on a hot plate. The state no longer possesses what would enable it to survive. The thing that increased its collapse was the disintegration of the countries of the socialist system, foremost of which the Soviet Union, which accelerated the entry into the fusional unity at a time when the federal system was on the table.

Basyoud called for a cessation of any quick and tinned solutions that please some parties without sufficient study of whether they are realistic and appropriate for all of Yemen, north and south, otherwise, we will return to the bloodshed between the people of the one Yemeni homeland in order to serve agendas that do not serve the stability, growth and development of Yemen.

He stressed that the main exit is what is determined by all Yemenis, indicating that the best solution so far is what has been reached in the Comprehensive National Dialogue Conference, with a review of the issues in dispute.
