On every occasion, we hear of official calls for national reconciliation from here and there, but the source of most of these calls was one of the largest political parties in the country, which is the Yemeni Islah Party. This is not an ideological bias as much as it is a piece of reportorial information that any researcher and follower can ascertain through a quick screening and review of calls for reconciliation over the last period that has been put.

In this attitude, we will try to read the subject through two reports. The first report deals with these calls, their motivations, their dimensions and the objectives they aim at in general, and the other report works to approximate the practical feasibility of these calls, their transitory and national necessity and their obstacles, as well as the chances of success.

- The motives of the Islah Party and the calls for reconciliation

Who follows the history of the Islah Party from the very beginning of its founding until this moment, is aware of the extent of the principle of faith in dialogue with others and reconciliation as a firm approach in the behavior of the Party and the statements of its officials throughout the struggle. This principle is seen as the main engine of the repeated calls for reconciliation that the Party makes from time to time.

By looking at the ideological background of the Party, we can say that the motives of the Islah Party in its calls for reconciliation emanate from structural intellectual foundations related to the organization's methodology and general goals aimed at unifying the people and overcoming all marginal differences that waste the energies of nations. We are dealing with an organization with great teleological dimensions that relate to the destiny of the nation and not only to its immediate requirements.

* Marginal conflicts waste common issues

In addition to the general objective mentioned above, which makes the Party's permanent motives and desires in reconciliation, there is a general belief in the leadership of this organization that the common issues between peoples are greater than the points of contention, and that the complexity of the nation's conflicts make them captive to small differences that hinder their unity and natural growth and delay the march of their rise and their ability to catch up with the emerging and stable nations, which is a matter of which the great common issues disappear and fall under the small goals, although they are strong and solid common issues, and can always be built upon once there is a sincere will and a desire to overcome small differences in favor of the goal.

This goal is what makes the Party adopts a more pragmatic approach and show a willingness to meet with the forces that differ with it in the political approach, whether those of the leftist nature or the liberal forces of a national character, and on the other hand the dynamic Salafist forces, and this appears closer to the Party at the level of the general politician approach.

* Calls for reconciliation and crossing opportunism

Based on the above, the strategy of the party in its calls for reconciliation appears to be a strategy of national dimensions rather than an provisional plan by opportunistic motives relate to its desire to win political gains here and there, as is the case of political activity, which is always dominated by party platforms.

In order to prove the realism of this motivation and its credibility, we have to go back a bit to the recent past and read the path of reconciliation calls and their results. In all the reconciliation stations, the Party was the most patriotic force that calls for reconciliation and is keen on it. It is also the least of these forces in the gains despite the political weight and the magnitude of its impact at the level of the arena. This is what determines the issue of the Party's motives. And being these calls come from purely national motives transcend the political selfishness and the greed of situational gains.

* Political dimensions in the calls for reconciliation

Countries that are in a state of political turmoil and suffer from a rupture in their national unity and are surrounded by existential threats such as wars, crises, the disintegration of societies and perhaps also the subjection of the geography of the country to fragmentation. In this case, individual and competitive political action has no meaning and no single political power, no matter how powerful, can transcend the situation by acting alone.

Based on this reality, the Islah Party realizes that there is no way out of the state of social fragmentation and sharp political division except through collective action and the building of inclusive political alliances that carry the task of restoring the country and achieving civil peace and starting from the common denominators between national forces with unified goals. The party has many experiences with this idea; perhaps the most prominent of these experiences is the experience of the JMP and how this bloc formed a model of political reconciliation between the opposition forces from the far right to the far left and succeeded in resisting the political system and forming a strong front against it.

* Primary summary (the procedural vision adopts by the Party for reconciliation)

To summarize the above, and by reading the practical procedures to establish the reconciliation steps that the party is working towards, the Party was and still is one of the most national forces adhering to the principle of national partnership. We have noticed this from the time of the revolution, the Gulf initiative, the transitional phase, the national dialogue, the coup and to this moment.

As all the calls for reconciliation provided by the Party emphasize the national partnership as an important and necessary ground to achieve political balance and establish the rules of a civil action in a country whose political structure is fragile and may be will be subjected to dismantlement at any moment. From this point of view, we are affirmed of the Party's goal of historic reconciliation calls. Those goals related to the need to collect the Republican row and build a political bridge to restore the state and to address all the small return projects represented by groups of violence and forces hostile to the project of the Republic and the civil state.

Note: In the next report we will talk about the feasibility and constraints of these calls to unify the Republican row as well as the chances of success of these calls as soon as they can be embodied as a reality in the way of restoring the Republic.
