Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Engineer Mohsen Basurrah, said that the decisions and orders related to the implementation of economic reforms and the strengthening of state resources issued by the Supreme Economic Council exhaust the citizens and have nothing to do with the economy and must be stopped.

In his statement, he added, "The government used to choose easy ways to improve resources by moving dollar prices through customs and moving the price of domestic consumption of electricity, water, gas, and oil derivatives, although it was rather first to move the salaries of civil and military employees and the pensions of retirees that have not been moved or evaluated since the promulgation of Jobs, Wages and Salaries Law No. (43) on July 18, 2005.

He continued, "I was expecting the Supreme Economic Council and the Council of Ministers to improve resources by finding alternative means and procedures for selling crude oil and stopping fees and taxes that are unlawfully taken from citizens, which at the same time are neither constitutional nor legal, whether they are fees between provinces, scale fees, container fees, and others.

The Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives added, "We were expecting them to work on improving resources by reducing their expenses as executive authorities, stopping the luxurious monthly exchange for them and their ministries, stopping unlicensed money changers who tamper and manipulate the currency rate, and they are in the hundreds, issuing decisions to operate idle airports to improve resources, reduce Difficulty for citizens to travel, in addition to summoning companies operating in the field of oil exploration in order to continue their exploratory work in order to improve the state’s resources through the revenues of these companies. We were expecting many available measures to improve resources that do not burden the citizen.

He concluded his statement by saying: "What is required of us, as a legislative and oversight authority, is to stand with the citizen exhausted by poverty, disease, and hunger, and to work to stop these unjust decisions that have nothing to do with the economy or economists."

The government's Supreme Economic Council had approved an increase in the prices of the customs dollar from 500 riyals to 750 Yemeni riyals. It also approved raising the prices of fuel, domestic gas, electricity, and water, which will constitute an additional burden on the shoulders of citizens.
