An important speech by Chairman of the Supreme Authority of the Islah Party

الثلاثاء 13 سبتمبر-أيلول 2022 الساعة 02 مساءً / alislah-ye.net - Exclusive

The chairman of the Supreme Authority of the Yemeni Islah Party, Mr. Muhammad Abdullah al-Yadumi, delivered an important speech on Monday evening on the occasion of the 32nd anniversary of the founding of the Yemeni Islah Party, which was announced on September 13, 1990.

In his speech, al-Yadumi touched on the most latest developments on the national arena and the positions of the Islah Party on various issues.

Text of the speech:

In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful

Speech of the Chairman of the Supreme Authority of the Yemeni Islah Party on the occasion of the thirty-second anniversary of the founding of the Party

Praise be to God, Lord of the Worlds, who said in the Holy Qur’an (I only intend reform as much as I am able. And my success is not but through Allah. Upon him I have relied, and to Him I return.), and may Allah’s prayers and peace be upon the Messenger of God:

The thirty-second anniversary of the founding of the Yemeni Islah Party, which was announced on the thirteenth of September 1990, comes in light of the declaration of political pluralism for the unified Yemeni state, which established the democratic approach to constructive competition through the tools of political action as a civilized means instead of the chaos of conflicts supported by the tools of violence that our people plagued in the north and south of the country. The emergence of the Islah Party came on the thirteenth of September, the embodiment of the oneness of the premises and constants of the revolution of twenty-sixth of September in 1962, which resulted in outbreaking a revolution in the south of the homeland on the fourteenth of October for liberation from the external occupier. After announcing the establishment of the party and assuming its political duties, the Islah Party contributed to the rooting of the values of the two glorious revolutions among the masses of the Yemeni people in general and among its affiliates from all groups and segments of society, who found in Islah Party a safe haven for belonging, work and construction, due to its moderate approach, moderate thought, national motives, the effectiveness of programs expressing the identity of the people and their Islamic beliefs, their human rights, the history and legacy of the struggles of the national movement in the face of the priesthood and tyranny of the Imamate and the hateful colonialism. The Islah Party has represented one of the pillars of national and political action side by side with the rest of the partners in political action and the living forces of society, and the Party remained and is still loyal to that national path at various stages.

At a time when we celebrate today the thirty-second anniversary of the founding of the party, we affirm the firm position adopted by the Islah Party with regard to national partnership in the present and the future to face the challenges that the country is going through, foremost of which is the Iranian-backed Houthi coup and liberation from the knobs and remnants of past conflicts that were occured between the various national forces and components in order to combine efforts to save the nation’s ship from drowning in the quagmire of fragmentation and to abandon the illusions of the ability of any party to cancel or exclude any national component, as this will double the size of the problems and establish more chaos that harms the gathering project, security and stability of Yemen and its Gulf and Arab surroundings, and national and international security in favor of Iranian hegemony projects and the rest of the extremist and terrorist groups. The Islah Party has affirmed and continues to affirm that the reality of Yemen and its political and social structure does not accept, in any way, that any party should be the sole decision-maker. Therefore, the principle of partnership, which was stipulated in the literature of the Islah Party, was confirmed by the facts of events and the showings of practical experience, which made it a solid approach in the party's policy from the first sight. Since the beginnings of the democratic experiment in the united Yemen, the Islah Party has contributed to the establishment of the tripartite coalition between the Yemeni Islah party, the General People's Congress and the Yemeni Socialist Party. Subsequently, the Islah Party participated with the General People’s Congress in forming the government according to the results of the elections in 1993, and then withdrew from it after the results of the elections in 1997. In 2003, the Islah Party actively contributed, along with the rest of the partners in the political opposition, to the establishment of the Joint Meeting Parties bloc as a political framework that was considered at the time to be a unique experience in the Arab region, as it contributed to enriching political life in terms of establishing the principle of transferring partial differences, getting around commonalities and making the peaceful struggle a starting point for engaging in political competitions and reforming official institutions. With the outbreak of the peaceful popular revolution in 2011, the Islah Party contributed with a high responsibility in pushing for safe exits for the peaceful transfer of power in accordance with the Gulf Initiative and its Executive Mechanism presented by the brothers in the Gulf Cooperation Council countries led by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, which represented a safe way out to overcome the political blockage according to a partnership formula between all political parties within the lists of representation in the National Consensus Government. When the Houthi militia carried out its fateful coup against the state in 2014, through which it targeted the republican system based on freedom and pluralism, took control of state institutions and turned against the national consensus represented in the outcomes of the National Dialogue Conference, the Islah Party sided with legitimacy and its constitutional institutions, and it and the rest of the political forces and components had formed the National Alliance bloc of pro-legitimacy parties, and throughout the past years, it has remained supporting legitimacy at all levels, and has stood firmly in the face of small projects that tried to detract from legitimacy to achieve narrow goals and interests, and made a great effort in order to unite the national ranks to confront the new Imams, as well as it supported the efforts made by the brothers in the Arab Alliance led by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to make the Riyadh conference held in 2015 a success, leading to the Riyadh Agreement signed on November 5, 2019, which aimed to end disputes, expand the circle of participation in institutions, enable the state to perform its duties from within the interim capital, Aden and the unification of the security and military decision within the framework of the two security and military institutions, but the unfortunate thing is that the provisions have not been fully implemented, especially the security and military part of it, which has caused political and administrative instability for state institutions in the interim capital of Aden during the past three years.

And because the Islah Party has consistently proceeded to unify visions and positions and unite ranks to confront the Iranian-backed Houthi rebellion, and in continuation of that national approach based on the principle of consensual partnership in managing the stage, the Islah Party responded to the call of the brothers in the Gulf Cooperation Council to hold a consultative conference in Riyadh under the auspices of the General Secretariat of the Council and the supervision of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. This conference resulted in the formation of the Presidential Leadership Council headed by Dr. Rashad al-Alimi, based on the presidential declaration issued on April 7 by the former President, Field Marshal Abd Rabbo Mansour Hadi. Where that declaration emphasized the principle of consensus in the administration of the state and decision-making as a basis for the legitimacy of the Council, because the consensual national partnership is considered the solid ground on which the comprehensive national project based on coexistence, cooperation and solidarity rests. Through that council, the Yemeni people will have the ability to transcend the dangerous stages, and any jump on this principle by any political party will lead the country to the unknown. Accordingly, the Islah Party has remained and will remain to be committed to the requirements of consensual partnership, giving priority to the supreme national interests over others, as it is the guarantor of achieving the goals and interests of restoring the state in light of a democratic federal Yemen that accommodates all.

O Islahis... While we congratulate you on the anniversary of the founding of your ancient party, we convey to you a well-deserved greeting of gratitude for all your strenuous efforts wherever you are in the various fields of work, sacrifices, construction and impartial giving. You have responded to the call of the homeland side by side with the Yemeni people of various orientations and affiliations to rally around legitimacy and its constitutional institutions in the face of the coup militia and the Iranian project that seeks to dominate the Arab region. We also extend our appreciation and gratitude to the heroes of the national army, the valiant security forces and the men of popular resistance, who sacrificed their lives in order to defend legitimacy and its institutions and restore the state from the hands of the coup militia and its supporters, despite the lack of discipline in delivering their monthly salaries. In this regard, we cannot but pay homage to the souls of the martyrs who were martyred while defending the honor of the Yemeni nation and driving away from it the death machine that hangs over its neck by means of Iranian arms. Thanks and gratitude to every wounded, disabled, abducted and forcibly disappeared in the prisons of backward militias, who were abducted from their homes and workplaces because of their patriotic stances aligned with the state project, freedom and dignity. Among those forcibly disappeared is the member of the Supreme Committee of the Yemeni Islah Party, the brave fighter, Mr. Muhammad Qahtan, who is still with many members of his party and other political forces in the secret detentions of the Houthi militia until this moment.

On this occasion, we also salute Islahi woman who has not delay coping with the difficult stage of struggle and has not delay in providing her family with determination to participate in the national battle and face challenges and difficulties with patience, making all efforts to mobilize the role of Yemeni women as an active partner in achieving the desired goals side by side with her male brother.

Despite the denial and ingratitude with which some people meet you and the unjust media campaigns targeting the Islah Party with distortion and falsification of facts, we urge you not to be preoccupied with those campaigns that should not hinder your path or distract your efforts from continuing to participate in supporting the state and engaging in a comprehensive confrontation with all the people of Yemen until all desired goals are achieved. We also urge you to accept the other opinion; Rather, you should accept any constructive criticism with open arms, with mobilizing popular and public positions, relations, and efforts to achieve major national goals. The Islah Party will remain the great party pulsing with love and giving in every city and village throughout the country.

Dear brothers and sisters - sons of our proud people:

The review, correction and development of political performance by the national forces and components in the various tracks in a manner that is consistent with the nature of developments and the magnitude of challenges and the full assumption of all the roles and tasks dictated by the constitutional, legal and moral duty are what is required by national responsibility because the requirements of the stage require concerted efforts to support the various state institutions with the need to correct mistakes and not accept deviation from the consensual strategy.

Accordingly, the Presidential Leadership Council bears the greatest burden in consolidating and strengthening the principle of consensus and moving forward in achieving national goals, with what it owns from authorization associated with the powers of the institution of presidency institution to carry out the national tasks entrusted to it. And these national goals represent in unifying national efforts to integrate armed formations that are not affiliated with the army and security institutions with the aim of ending the coup, restoring the state and extending its influence over the entire national territory, preserving the sovereignty and independence of the country by uniting the republican rank of political and social forces and components, enabling all state institutions to carry out their duties and responsibilities from inside the interim capital of Aden, holding sessions of the House of Representatives on an ongoing basis as the legislative authority that embodies the right of the people in monitoring the work of the executive authority, reduce financial and administrative corruption, preserve the sovereignty of the country and its gains, and pay the salaries of the army, security forces and the popular resistance on monthly basis, for what that requires the unification of goals and paths towards supporting the end of the Houthi militia coup that rejects all peace efforts and initiatives and repudiates the implementation of the terms of the agreements, the latest of which was the repudiation of lifting the siege on the city of Taiz that is still witness to the brutality of the Houthi coup, being stripped of all values and norms, and the lack of recognition of human rights towards its brave sons. Despite all this, the besieged city - with its sacrifices and patience - continues to inspire all Yemenis to be firm in the face of all forms of political and racial oppression, to win the national battle and to support the state project, which necessitates the Presidential Leadership Council and the government rushing to support the army and resistance in it in a way that guarantees lifting the siege on it and its complete liberation from the hands of the Houthi militias, in parallel with meeting the needs of the people of the governorate in the relief and humanitarian aspect, which is required to take care of the displaced in Marib Governorate, which represented a safe haven for all those affected by the war and brutality of the Houthi militia, as it accommodated hundreds of thousands of displaced people, while its men from various tribes, forces and political components, such as lions, rose up in front of the Iranian-backed Houthi militia that tried to invade Marib to harm its people, until Marib Governorate became an icon of struggle against injustice and tyranny and a support for legitimacy. This behavior is not unusual for the descendants of the kings of Sheba, because they are always the first to defend the sacred, to help the distressed and support the oppressed, so they have all our thanks, appreciation and gratitude.

The sensitivity of the current stage also requires that the Presidential Leadership Council and the government stand firmly to address the security imbalances, stop the massive violations of human rights and correct the deviations that occur in some liberated Governorates, specifically those where matters have deviated from the course of the main battle. This will only happen by ending the tension in Shabwa Governorate against the background of targeting some army and security units by formations and elements outside the legitimate institutions, which bully with drones to kill civilians and soldiers from the people of Shabwa. This requires prompt accountability and dismissal of those involved in igniting the strife, addressing its repercussions, removing its effects and returning the situation to normal to treat the wounds and prevent sustainable disputes that generate long-term tribal revenge. The people most affected by this strife are the people of the Governorate. From this standpoint, we make an appeal to all the people of Shabwa and its political forces to overcome the internal differences and move towards strengthening the values of brotherhood, cooperation and partnership in order to serve the public interest.

Regarding the devastating effects that our Yemeni people are facing as a result of the continuous decline in the value of the national currency, its repercussions on the living conditions, human suffering and the widening circle of poverty, it is imperative for the Presidential Leadership Council and the government to assume great responsibilities to curb this frightening collapse and stand by our people in their ordeal and lift the suffering from their shoulders by providing basic services and supporting the national currency, as well as monitoring the prices of food and pharmaceutical commodities, providing full care for the displaced, taking all urgent measures to stop the economic collapse, mobilizing resources, stopping all sources of bleeding for public money, fighting corruption in various sectors, rehabilitating the country’s ports and outlets in a way that enables the government to re-export oil and gas, providing enough currency to finance the needs of citizens and improve their living conditions.

We also call on the Presidential Leadership Council and the government to pay attention to the level of educational performance in schools and universities in a way that meets the aspirations and hopes of our children in the future, while reconsidering the low salaries of teachers in a way that meets their needs according to the living conditions. We call on the Presidential Leadership Council and the government to preserve the national identity that the Houthi militia seeks to erode by bringing an alien culture to our society, its culture and civilization. Also, we hope that the government will pay attention to Yemeni students on scholarships to study abroad, who have been affected by the effects of the war and its economic repercussions, and find solutions to the problems they face in the regular payment of their financial dues in a way that enables them to continue their education without need, because these students along with their colleagues at home are the window to the future, the vanguard of recovery and national building.

Dear brothers and sisters - sons of our proud people: We in the Yemeni Islah Party share our steadfast sons, brothers and sisters in the areas under the control of the coup, their human suffering, as the death gang continued to trade in the tragedy of the citizens, profiting from the wounds and pain of the public people and continuing to confiscate public money and private property by barbaric methods that express the mentality of racist gangs. This gang is also taking advantage of the conditions of war to pass on its sectarian project and imported culture in order to booby-trap the identity of generations in Yemen of faith and wisdom. It also believes that the continuation of the war is the appropriate atmosphere for silencing the mouths, confiscating freedoms and insulting dignity to achieve the illegal enrichment of its leaders, supervisors and racist wings. All this doubles the tragedy for the citizen who is anxiously awaiting the end of the crisis. It also doubles the responsibility of the Presidential Leadership Council and the government to rid the Yemeni citizen of this pandemic that has afflicted him. We are certain that these crimes and violations committed by the militia will not last for long, and our people should document all crimes and violations to prosecute their perpetrators in national and international courts.

Dear brothers and sisters: Today, in the midst of our celebration of the thirty-second anniversary of the founding of the Yemeni Islah Party, we reaffirm through you to all local, regional and international parties a set of firm positions of the Islah Party on some issues, namely:

First: The Islah Party, which was founded on solid national values and a moderate approach, reiterates its rejection of terrorism practiced by violent and extremist groups in all its forms. It also reiterates the Islah Party's position in support of national, regional and international efforts to combat this scourge that threatens local and international peace. We also renew the Islah Party's call, which we had launched on the thirtieth anniversary of the Party's founding, for the necessity of developing a national strategy to confront terrorism so as to target its roots that nourish it with the viability of survival and the continuation of violence through the development of comprehensive solutions that tend to address the shortcomings in the economic, educational and political aspects. The Islah Party was and still is at the top of the list of those affected by terrorism, which targeted its political and social cadres by liquidations and treacherous assassinations.

Second: We affirm the position of the Islah Party in support of efforts to establish peace and end the war within the framework of the official position of the state and in light of the efforts made by the UN envoy, the US special envoy and the international community to establish a just peace. We see a just and sustainable peace based on local, regional and international references as the best option for ending the war, achieving stability and extending the state's influence over the country. We believe that the Houthi militia cannot engage in a serious path to reach a just peace according to the terms of reference if the United Nations and the international community do not exert sufficient pressure in the direction of implementing the internationally agreed Security Council resolutions. The Houthi militia, which ignited the spark of war and imposed it on the Yemeni people and on neighboring countries in the implementation of the agendas of the Iranian expansionist project in the region, has been keen over the past years to waste all available peace opportunities, rejecting all regional and international efforts and initiatives calling for an end to the war and establishing peace, and repudiating the implementation of its commitments in all agreements and consultations. The militia is still proving to the Yemeni people and the world that it has no real desire for peace, but rather uses agreements, including the armistice agreement, to gain time and mobilize more tools of war and destruction provided by the Iranian Revolutionary Guard. This behavior is clear in the failure to implement the terms of the armistice from the first day and its continuation in launching large-scale military operations on the positions of the National Army forces on the fronts of Taiz and Marib, and its persistence in continuing the siege of the city of Taiz. The military parade with Iranian weapons, which the Houthi militia set up in the city of Hudaydah in full view of the world, was an adequate Iranian response to the UN and international efforts calling for peace. Because of the weak and indecisive positions regarding the intransigence of the militia and its criminal practices against our people, which is considered a betrayal of the Yemeni people and an encouragement for the militia to continue its crimes.

Third: We in the Yemeni Islah Party, while we celebrate this anniversary, thank the countries of the Arab Alliance, foremost of which is the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, for their strenuous efforts to support Yemeni legitimacy, end the Houthi coup and halt Iran's expansionist projects in the region. We affirm that Yemen will be stable only within the framework of its Arab surroundings in general and the Gulf in particular, and we also stress the need for a balance of cooperation and integration relations with all Arab and African countries in a way that achieves common interests, and in a manner that does not harm the legitimate interests of all regional and international parties. We do believe that the Houthi coup militia and the tools of sabotage and chaos in Yemen are nothing but a spearhead in the hands of Iran and its supporters to use the geopolitical advantages of Yemen to threaten the interests of the region and the world, foremost of which is the threat and blackmail of the Gulf states in their economic and security interests to achieve Iranian interests in various files and serve the interests of some of the forces that support the project of enabling Iranian influence in Yemen, which requires concerted efforts to end the Iranian project in Yemen by turning the page of the coup, the return of the Yemeni state and its construction within its Gulf and Arab surroundings.

In this regard, we reiterate the importance of the principled position of the Islah Party, which is to strengthen the relationship with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in particular and the rest of the Gulf Cooperation Council countries in general. We call on the brothers in the Gulf Cooperation Council to complete the inclusion of Yemen in the council, as this is the natural and most appropriate situation for the security of Yemen and the Gulf, and also so that Yemen does not remain prey to projects lurking in the countries of the region.

Finally... We assure the members and masses of the Islah Party, and the Yemeni people in general, that the suffering you have endured, the sacrifices you have made and the patience you have shown throughout the stages of struggle and work, will, God willing, work to end the Iranian Houthi coup project. As the pure Yemeni land, which was drenched with the blood of its best sons in the battle imposed by the forces of darkness, will not accept the return of the priesthood and imamate project, and will not accept the repetition of Iran’s expansionist experiments in the region on the land of the Republic of Yemen, nor will it accept racist dynastic myths, nor narrow regional strife, nor projects of acquisition, ambitions and domination. The justice of the cause that you carry, the sanctity of the struggle, and the sacrifices that you permit will work to end the dynastic project and all emergency projects of chaos and sabotage. Our reality today places before us as Yemenis the historical responsibility in uniting the goals, projects and material and moral capabilities, and it is imperative that we forget the differences of the past and rally around the national project to rid the country of priesthood, backwardness and chaos, in addition to restoring and building the state. Let us bring minds to the level of awareness and hearts to the extent of the national duty of cohesion. Let hands be united in all fields and paths in support of the national project in the face of the Iranian project so that the struggling journey will be crowned by ending the coup and restoring the state to get the honor of participating in the renaissance of the national struggle side by side with the partners in political action, the heroes of the army, the popular resistance and the glorious free people of Yemen.

We congratulate you once again on the occasion of the thirty-second anniversary of the establishment of the Yemeni Islah Party, which comes today in parallel with the anniversary of the national holidays, the glorious revolutions of the twenty-sixth of September and the fourteenth of October, in addition to the anniversary of the exit of the colonizer on the thirtieth of November, from which we draw inspiration from the fuel of determination and patience to make an upcoming national anniversary that will be recorded in the history of Yemen by ending the Houthi coup and restoring and building the state, God willing, and time will tell.

(Our Lord, let not our hearts deviate after You have guided us and grant us from Yourself mercy. Indeed, You are the Bestower)

Almighty God has spoken truly

Thank you and good night

Mohammed bin Abdullah al-Yadumi

Chairman of the Supreme Authority of the Yemeni Islah Party
