An event held in the Yemeni city of Marib revealed on Saturday that 10,000 children have been killed as a result of the war waged by the Houthi militia against the Yemeni people, in addition to the psychological effects it has left on more than two million Yemeni children.

In an event on childhood held in the city of Ibb, the academist specialized in psychiatry, Dr. Mahyoub al-Mikhlafi said, "More than two million children have been psychologically affected by the war launched by the Houthi militia against Yemenis, as a result of their direct injury, forced displacement or getting out from their areas."

Al-Mikhlafi reviewed the most prominent crimes and violations committed by the Houthi militia against childhood in Yemen since the beginning of its coup against the legitimate authority in late 2014.

He stressed that at least 10,000 children were killed, while 8,000 children had their limbs amputated, including 800 children who were totally or partially paralyzed in this war that has been raging in Yemen for more than 7 years, according to the official Yemeni News Agency.

Al-Mikhlafi pointed out that the Houthi militia, since the beginning of its coup against the state, has recruited about 20,000 children and plunged them into its battles against the Yemenis, in flagrant violation of all international conventions and laws on children's rights, criticizing the silence of the international community towards these crimes.

In her turn, the child Hanouf Ismail gave a speech on behalf of the children at the event, in which she called on the international community, humanitarian and human rights organizations and bodies to condemn the terrorist crimes committed by the Houthi militia against childhood in Yemen and its deliberate criminal targeting of displaced person camps in Marib after it displaced them from its areas of control.

She also called on the UN Security Council and the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights to exert more pressure on the Houthi militia to stop the bombing of civilian-populated cities and villages with ballistic missiles, shells and booby-trapped drones, which slew the lives of hundreds of children and women and tore their bodies apart.

She stressed the need to include the Houthi militia on the list of terrorist organizations and groups and to include its leaders in the lists of international terrorists for the crimes they committed against the children of Yemen.
