Text of the statement

The General Secretariat of the Yemeni Islah Party condemns the treacherous and cowardly assassination attempt that the Vice President of the University of Aden, the leader in the Executive Office of the Islah Party in the Interim capital of Aden, Dr. Muhammad Aqlan, subjected to today, Thursday, which resulted in him being severely injured.

The assassination attempt against Dr. Aqlan, who has an academic standing and a national figure, is no less horrific than the terrorist assassinations that targeted civil, political and social figures, the resistance and the innocent people of Aden, which the sinful hands did not stop shedding the blood of its best men and youth and terrorized children and women and death distributed mercilessly.

The attempt to assassinate Dr. Muhammad Aqlan represented a new model of brutality that is practiced by systematic killing gangs by targeting an academic and political stature, and a struggling personality with a bright history, without taking into account his age, his scientific status and his peaceful personality that unites and does not differentiate.

One of the unfortunate matters is that the hands of killers and terrorists continue to shed the blood of the people of Aden and tamper with the security and stability of the city, in light of the shameful inability of the concerned authorities, where the Islah Party and its leaders and cadres have remained the most prominent target of the tools of terrorism over the past years.

It is horrific to see the peaceful city of Aden and the incubator of the national struggle turn into an arena of repeated assassinations and bombings that killed people, destroyed and spread fear and distorted the beautiful face of Aden, which would not have happened without the absence of the state.

The Islah Party had repeatedly stressed the importance of everyone standing with a moral, humanitarian and patriotic responsibility towards these crimes while continuing its emphasis on its consistent and practical national positions in support of the legitimacy, the battle to restore the state and unite and cohesion national forces, and it has extended its hand to all for this big goals, without these crimes deterring it from this position, but the continued targeting of its leaders and the perpetration of more assassination crimes must stop immediately.

In this regard, we hold all officials fully responsible for the security of Aden, and we renew our demand for the government and its agencies to play their role in arresting the perpetrators who have committed excessive bloodshed and are implementing an agenda that undermines security and stability in the interim capital of Aden, and this agenda only serves the Houthi militia and the Iranian project, as well as arresting these killers and those who stand behind them and bring them all to justice.

We also renew our demand for the immediate implementation of the military and security part of the Riyadh Agreement, which was signed under the auspices of the brothers in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, as this Agreement represents the best solution that guarantees the return of the government, its organs and institutions to play its role in protecting and serving people, and the price of continuing to obstruct this is more shedding innocent blood, leaving space for the hired killers and deliberate sabotage of the efforts of the brothers in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

We reiterate the demand for the formation of an international investigation committee to detect criminals, prosecute them, enforce justice and provide justice to the victims, and this demand has become an urgent necessity with the recurrence of assassination crimes.
