Aden Islah Party condemns the sinful attempt to assassinate Aqlan and calls for an urgent investigation into all the crimes carried out against its affiliates

Text of the statement

The interim capital, Aden, woke up this morning, Thursday, November 4, 2021, to the impact of a heinous terrorist crime, which the hands of crime, which get the pleasure to do in this peaceful city, driven by feelings of hatred and its bloody nature. These criminal hands were tempted by the continued silence of the government, the presidency and the international community about the practice of their crimes and the facts of the security and military reality that have turned Aden into an environment in which terrorism and criminality thrive without accountability and oversight.

It has become clear today that the parties that still refrain from implementing the security and military aspect of the Riyadh Agreement are the ones who stand behind the bombings, assassinations and security imbalances in the city.

Aden was almost about to lose today one of its scientific statures, and one of its finest men known to its universities and scientific institutions. He is a scientist who does not hesitate to benefit everyone with his knowledge, a doctor specializing in internal medicine and the Vice President of the University of Aden for Postgraduate Studies and Scientific Research. He was politically known for not deviating from any work in the interest of Aden and the homeland as a whole through his position in the Yemeni Islah Party in Aden, and he is the former head of its Executive Office in the Governorate and the current head of the Party's Shura Council.

Professor Muhammad Aqlan was subjected to a sinful assassination attempt while he was on his way Thursday morning to his work at the University of Aden, he survived that attempt with injuries and was subsequently transferred to a hospital in Aden city for treatment.

This blood that is still bleeding is the innocent blood of Eden that will sweep away these polluted projects and drown out their malicious ambitions.

The Yemeni Islah Party in Aden wishes Dr. Aqlan to overcome the stage of danger and prays to God for his safety and a speedy recovery from his wounds.

And the Yemeni Islah Party expresses its condemnation in the strongest terms for this heinous terrorist act and renews its call to the authorities, the government, the presidency and the international community to conduct an urgent investigation into all these crimes, work to stop the bloodshed, the systematic continuous targeting of Aden and restore its peaceful civil status and symbolism. The Party also calls on all political and social forces to face these acts, their perpetrators, planners, supporters and financiers.

At the same time, the Yemeni Islah Party appreciates all the free voices of the people of Aden, all over the country, and the leaders of public opinion who record honorable positions in expressing their rejection of these crimes. Also, the University of Aden and the Yemeni Academic Institution share their feelings about what Prof. Dr. Muhammad Aqlan was subjected to. The Party affirms what has stated in the statement of the Presidency of the University that this crime is a desperate attempt to assassinate the spirit of science in Aden, calling on the security services to quickly reveal the perpetrators of this crime that shook the human conscience.

And the Yemeni Islah Party confirms that these crimes, which are carried out on an ongoing basis against its affiliates, leaders and individuals, no statute of limitation, and that the series of targeting the Party will not hinder it from continuing its national role in accordance with its principles and visions in which it adopts - alongside all national forces - the choices of the people and takes into account their interests, and through which it adopts their pain and takes sides with their hopes.
