In the presence of the Deputy Chairman of the Parliamentary Bloc, Head of the Aden Islah Party, MP Ensaf Mayo, member of the Supreme Authority of the Yemeni Islah Party, Chairman of Parliamentary Bloc, MP Abdul Razzaq Al-Hajri, met today, Wednesday, with His Excellency the Ambassador of the United Kingdom to our country, Richard Oppenheim.

During the meeting, a number of issues and developments in the Yemeni arena were discussed, especially with regard to efforts to establish peace, the humanitarian situation and the implementation of the Riyadh Agreement.

In the meeting, al-Hajri welcomed the British Ambassador, wishing him success in his duties, and that he would be a new tributary to the international community's efforts to reach a peaceful solution.

The Chairman of the Parliamentary Bloc and its Deputy reviewed the roles and positions of the Islah Party in Yemeni political life since its founding, where the Party celebrates the 31st anniversary of its founding, after decades of active contribution to the rooting of the democratic experience in Yemen.

Al-Hajri stressed that the Islah Party will continue to support all regional and international efforts that seek to end the coup of the Houthi dynasty militia, stop its war on the Yemeni people and bring peace to our country, foremost of which is the emphasis on supporting the efforts of the new UN envoy to Yemen.

The Chairman of the Islah Party’s Parliamentary Bloc pointed out that the humanitarian crisis in Yemen today is a direct result of the Houthi militia’s coup against the state and its bloody war on the Yemeni people.

He reiterated that a comprehensive and sustainable peaceful solution must be based on the three references to the solution in Yemen, foremost of which is UN Resolution No. 2216, which represents the road map for a political solution in Yemen, pointing to the continued intransigence of the Houthi militia and their rejection of all international resolutions and the placement of obstacles in front of all means of a political solution in Yemen.

Al-Hajri explained that the necessity today requires the urgent implementation of the Riyadh Agreement, and the return of the government, pointing to the importance of the efforts of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in this regard, which he stressed are fraternal efforts that are added to the support provided by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to Yemen and its government in various fields.

He stressed that the return of the government to the interim capital, Aden, and the unification of the forces supporting legitimacy will ease the hardships that the Yemeni people suffer from.

For his part, the British Ambassador expressed his understanding of the humanitarian crisis in Yemen, which was exacerbated by the Houthi attack on Marib and caused tragedy for the residents of Marib and millions of displaced people.

He expressed his congratulations to the Yemeni Islah Party on the anniversary of its founding, praising its roles in Yemeni political life.

Oppenheim reiterated his country's continued efforts to bring peace to Yemen and end the human tragedy.

The meeting was attended by the Second Secretary for Political Affairs and Communications at the British Embassy, Mrs. Rebecca Hutchin.
