Human rights and humanitarian organizations followed with great concern the Houthi group’s decision of execution issued against a number of youth and activists of the February 11th Youth Revolution who were detained in Hajjah prison, where one of whom died in the prison more than six years ago as a result of a decision of execution issued by one of the parties affiliated with the coup Houthi group has no mandate, which has violated all humanitarian laws and issued its invalid decision without the lowest standards of justice and fairness. They considered that this unjust decision is an escalatory step that will abort the efforts made by the UN envoy regarding the exchange of detainees, prisoners and forcibly disappeared in accordance with the Oman understandings and ends any future settlement expected.

The decision to execute the detainees of the February 11th Youth Revolution confirms the Houthi group’s disavowal of its commitment and determination to proceed with the approach of political escalation in addition to the military escalation on various fronts with the aim of thwarting efforts to end the war and bring peace to Yemen. They also assure the international community, the United Nations and its special envoy that this step taken by the Houthi group reflects a clear picture of the human rights situation in its areas of control and considers a stain in the forehead of the judiciary, which has turned from a platform for justice into a tool of repression and blackmail opponents and an arena for settling political scores between the Houthi group and its political opponents.

At the time when we consider that the decision issued against the detainees of the Youth Revolution is null and has no legitimacy even if the Houthi group covered that with the dress and the crutch of the judiciary falsely, we assure the world as well that these detained activists were included in the Comprehensive National Dialogue document and international decisions, foremost of which is the Gulf Initiative and its Executive Mechanism, which all confirmed the release of all detainees in connection with the peaceful events of the February Youth Revolution of 2011.

Therefore, we hold the Houthi group fully responsible for the lives and safety of the detained Revolution Youth from Hajjah Governorate who are in their prisons for the tenth year in a row, and for their immediate release without restriction or condition.

We call for the abolition of this unjust decision, which is an unprecedented judicial precedent, as it was issued by parties that do not enjoy the lowest standards of fair trial and in which all the rights of the defense were wasted.

We also call on the UN Special Envoy, the Security Council, the United Nations, all human rights organizations and the relevant authorities to condemn this crime and to urgently intervene to save the lives of the detainees and the necessity to play their role in facing these arbitrary decisions against activists and politicians, and the speed of actual and serious action to stop sham and futile trials that do not serve Peace in Yemen in accordance with the requirements of the Yemeni constitution and international humanitarian law, and the cessation of all political reprisals carried out by the Houthi group under the cover of the politicized judiciary.
