The Yemeni Islah Party in the Hadhramawt Governorate condemned the shooting incident at the demonstrators in the Mayfa' area, west of the city of Mukalla, on Tuesday morning. This incident resulted in the death of one demonstrator and the injury of eight others, one of them seriously.

The Hadhramawt Islah Party considered that the excessive use of force in the face of citizens demanding legitimate rights does not solve the problems that are exacerbating in the Governorate, but rather complicates them. It called on the authority in the Governorate to meet the citizens' needs urgently, as an authority responsible for the Governorate’s capabilities and wealth. It called for an urgent investigation to be opened against those who ordered the shooting of live bullets and those who carried it out.

The Hadhramawt Islah Party called on citizens to adhere to peaceful, civilized ways to claim their rights, which are legally guaranteed without harming the public and private interests.

The Hadhramaut Islah Party invoked God to have mercy on the person who was martyred, who was from the liberals of Mayfa`, and to dwell in him in His spaciousness and grant his family with patience and solace, as well as prayed to hasten healing for those who wounded in this painful accident. It called on the Governorate authority to take care of the treatment of the wounded and the family of the dead man, asking God Almighty to accept him among the martyrs and to compensate his family and relatives with goodness.

In the meeting of its Executive Office in the city of Mukalla, the Hadhramawt Islah Party affirmed its full solidarity with all the legitimate demands of the people and ways to peacefully express them, which has become a behavior for a number of citizens to reach their legitimate rights.

The Hadhramawt Islah Party regrets the frightening deterioration of the electricity situation, which heralds a hot summer and renewed suffering. It warned the Governorate authority and the government of the necessity to put in place urgent solutions to this continuing problem.
