Murder, abduction and siege... 334 violations were committed by the Houthi militia against residents of al-Hayma, north of Taiz

The Yemeni Network for Rights and Freedoms reported today, Monday, that it has documented 334 violations of human rights in the Al-Hayma area in Al-Taiziyah Directorate, Taiz Governorate, that were committed by the Houthi militia during the period from 6 to 11 January.

In its report, the Network stated that the violations varied between willful killing, injury, abduction, enforced disappearance, displacement and denial of access to treatment, food and water as a result of the siege imposed by the terrorist Houthi militia on all residential homes.

The Network indicated that its team had documented 11 cases of deaths since the beginning of the events of the invasion of Al-Haima by the Houthi militia. These cases were divided between the implementation of 3 field executions, and the mutilation of the dead bodies, dragging them out by the military patrols, according to local and human rights sources.

According to the report, the Network monitored 29 cases of injury, including women and children, and more than 140 cases of arbitrary arrest and enforced disappearance, including 13 children and 9 women.

The report stated that the Houthi militia committed 128 cases of violations, including the bombing of 14 homes using TNT, 110 cases of storming, looting and searches, and 4 cases of burning homes as a result of the intense indiscriminate bombing. The report also revealed that 7 cases of the looting of various types of vehicles belonging to citizens of the region and 12 cases of confiscation of motorcycles.

In its report, the Network added that "the Houthi militia forced dozens of families to forcibly displace them and convert their homes into military barracks for the militias, in addition to the creation of 4 military checkpoints by the Houthi militia at all entrances and exits to the Al-Hayma area."

The Network indicated that the Houthi militia bombed residential neighborhoods in Al-Hayma with all kinds of weapons, such as Howitzer's shells, Katyusha rockets, mortars and tank shells, in addition to sniping and the use of mines on the roads leading to and from the region and in the mountains, valleys and agricultural lands.

The Network called on all international, local and regional organizations, as well as all activists, media professionals, the media and the international community to exercise all means of pressure to lift the siege imposed on the Al-Hayma area and remove the mines that the Houthi militia planted at the entrances and exits of the region.

The Coordinator for Humanitarian Affairs in Yemen and the International Red Cross also demanded to condemn this siege and all the crimes that the militia is practicing against civilians and to work to lift the siege and conduct an urgent relief convoy to break the siege imposed on the villages of the Al-Hayma area, aid the wounded, and enter the necessary aid for families who have become homeless.
