Yemeni human rights sources revealed that the Houthi coup militia executed a prisoner who belongs to the Yemeni army and his corpse was mutilated in a hideous manner, in a heinous torture incident, the third of its kind since the signing of the prisoner exchange agreement recently between the legitimate government and the Houthis in Switzerland under the auspices of the United Nations.
The sources reported that the Houthi militia had executed the soldier Azzam Saifan, who had been captured by its fighters after he was besieged in the "Najd al-Majmaa" front in the Ma'rib governorate.
The sources pointed out that after the prisoner's body was handed over in a recent exchange process, ugly mutilations were seen on the body, including "cutting the tongue, nose, pulling out the ears, gouging out the eyes, mutilating his face and the rest of his body, and breaking the fingers of his hands."
The sources indicated that the militias broke the prisoner's neck, burned his face with acid, pierced his chest, and extracted his heart, in addition to breaking one of his legs.
This new heinous crime, which is the third of its kind, was committed against a prisoner covered by Switzerland's agreement whose ink has not dried up. It comes days after the militia handed over the body of the captive Lieutenant Colonel Adel Kuawat, who died under torture and before him the prisoner Muhammad al-Subbari, whose body was delivered disfigured with traces of brutal torture, burns and holes.
During the past five years, the Houthi militia committed brutal crimes of torture and executions of its captives and abductees in the shadow of international silence and complicity.
It should be noted that the UN envoy to Yemen, Martin Griffiths, had announced, last Sunday, that an agreement had been reached between the legitimate Yemeni government and the Houthis to exchange 1081 prisoners from both sides, implement the agreement and immediately release the prisoners.
According to a Yemeni government source, the agreement includes the release of 681 Houthi prisoners in exchange for the release of 400 prisoners belonging to the legitimacy and the Arab Alliance with the Houthi militia.
