The National Bloc of Political Parties and Components called for expediting the arrest of those responsible for the assassination of Wissam Qaed in Aden and urged an immediate review of the city's security apparatus. This came in a statement issued today, Monday, in which the National Bloc strongly condemned the abduction and assassination of Qaed, who served as the Acting Executive Director of the Social Fund for Development, stressing the need to bring the perpetrators to justice and hold them accountable as quickly as possible.
The statement reads as follows:
The National Bloc of Political Parties and Components expresses its strong condemnation of the abduction and assassination that took place yesterday, Sunday, in Aden, targeting Mr. Wissam Qaed, the Acting Executive Director of the Social Fund for Development. He was abducted from in front of his home in the Enmaa district of the interim capital, Aden, and his body was found a few hours later. This crime is part of a continuing series of deplorable terrorist acts, which the National Bloc previously warned against in its statement issued on April 26th, raising serious concerns about the escalating frequency of these tragic incidents.
The security vacuum and conflicting decisions, coupled with leniency in holding terrorists accountable and their impunity, are fueling further crimes. Accordingly, the Bloc strongly condemns these crimes and emphasizes the necessity of decisively confronting all those behind this crime and previous ones.
What is happening today in Aden serves as a clear warning of a potential serious security collapse if the relevant authorities do not act swiftly, decisively, and without delay. This danger is exacerbated by the recurrence of crimes within the same security zone, which recently witnessed an assassination attempt against Sheikh Nayef al-Mahthouthi.
The National Bloc reiterates its demands, with even greater urgency than before, for the following:
Security in the interim capital, Aden, at this critical juncture is a key pillar for normalizing life and restoring stability.
