Adnan al-Odaini, the official spokesperson for the Yemeni Islah Party and Deputy Head of its Media and Culture Department, affirmed the party's commitment to defending press freedom and the right to expression. He emphasized the importance of guaranteeing journalists' rights and enabling them to perform their duties freely.

In a post on the "X" platform today, Sunday, on the occasion of World Press Freedom Day, al-Odaini stressed the significant role of a free press in addressing society's issues. He stated that journalists today represent a frontline in the struggle to restore the state.

Al-Odaini paid tribute to the martyrs who gave their lives in the field of the word and to those who remain at the heart of the battle for humanity, the homeland, and truth.

Al-Odaini pointed to the grave violations committed against journalists, particularly by the Houthis and other outlaw militias, adding, "We have lost many, and dozens have been subjected to kidnapping, enforced disappearance, and torture, especially those affiliated with Islah, who have exemplified national struggle and courage."

He expressed his congratulations to journalists on the occasion of World Press Freedom Day, explaining that every word a journalist writes creates awareness that brings our beloved homeland closer to a more prosperous and stable future.
