The Embassy of the Russian Federation in Yemen offered its condolences on the death of prominent Yemeni politician and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Al-Nawras Private Schools, Dr. Abdul Rahman al-Shaer, who was killed in Aden last Saturday.
In an official statement published on its X platform, the embassy stated that Dr. al-Shaer was a distinguished figure in the education sector in Yemen, expressing its sympathy to his family and the educational community. The embassy also affirmed its full support for the efforts of the Yemeni government to achieve security and stability in the country.
Regarding the details of the incident that occurred on Saturday, local sources in Aden reported that Dr. Abdul Rahman al-Shaer was assassinated by unknown gunmen while on his way to his school in the Kabuta area of Al-Mansoura district. The attack, which coincided with his scheduled participation in the fifth Al-Nawras Robotics and Artificial Intelligence Championship 2026, was carried out using a Toyota Hilux pickup truck. The gunmen intercepted the poet's car before he reached his school and opened fire on him, killing him instantly. The perpetrators then fled. Emergency services attempted to save the victim by transporting him to a hospital, but he had already passed away.
It is worth noting that Dr. Abdul Rahman al-Shaer was a prominent leader in the Yemeni Islah Party, in addition to his influential roles as an educator and chairman of the board of directors of Al-Nawras Private Schools. He made significant contributions to the development of the education sector, earning him widespread respect in educational and social circles.
