The United Kingdom has condemned the assassination of Dr. Abdul Rahman al-Shaer, an educator and leader in the Yemeni Islah Party, who was killed in Aden last week.

The British Ambassador to Yemen, Abda Sharif, expressed her country's strong condemnation of the murder of Dr. al-Shaer in a post on the "X" platform. This came in conjunction with her productive discussions with the Governor of Aden, Abdul Rahman Sheikh, regarding security reforms, improving governance, and ways to enhance development.

She stressed the necessity of conducting a thorough investigation aimed at uncovering the facts and holding those responsible accountable before the law, while emphasizing the importance of strengthening cooperation between different levels of government to ensure security and stability.

Last Saturday morning, unidentified gunmen assassinated Dr. Abdul Rahman al-Shaer, a leader in the Yemeni Islah Party, in the interim capital, Aden. The incident occurred on one of the city's streets.

According to local sources in Aden, Dr. al-Shaer was attacked while on his way to his school in the Kabuta area of Al-Mansoura district to attend the fifth Al-Nawras Robotics and Artificial Intelligence Championship 2026. The sources stated that gunmen in a Hilux pickup truck intercepted his car at a bend near the school. As soon as he got out of his vehicle, he was shot multiple times, resulting in his immediate death. The attackers fled the scene quickly, while Dr. al-Shaer was taken to the hospital, where medical reports confirmed his death.

Dr. Abdul Rahman al-Shaer was a prominent leader in the Yemeni Islah Party and served as Chairman of the Board of Directors of Al-Nawras Private Schools. He was also known as an educator with significant contributions and influential roles in the field of education.
