Turkey and Japan condemn the assassination of al-Shaer and emphasize their categorical rejection of criminal acts

The Turkish and Japanese embassies in Yemen strongly condemned the attack that targeted Dr. Abdul Rahman al-Shaer, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Al-Nawras Private Schools, in Aden, the temporary capital of Yemen, last Saturday.

In an official statement, the Turkish embassy described the incident as an unacceptable attack on human values and educational principles. It noted that such attacks not only harm individuals but also target the unity of the Yemeni people and the integrity of their social fabric, adding that they represent a real threat to efforts to restore stability to the country.

The embassy affirmed Turkey's continued support for the Yemeni government in confronting violence and terrorism in all its forms and working to achieve security and stability. It also expressed its deepest condolences to the family of the deceased and to all the people of Yemen, praying that God would have mercy on him.

For its part, the Japanese embassy in Yemen stressed its categorical rejection of such criminal acts, which hinder efforts to improve the security situation and enhance stability in Aden. It called for an immediate and transparent investigation to identify those responsible for this act and bring them to justice.

The embassy also reaffirmed Japan's support for the Yemeni government and people in their efforts to restore security and promote social peace.

Dr. Abdul Rahman al-Shaer, a leader in the Yemeni Islah Party and chairman of the board of directors of Al-Nawras Private Schools, was assassinated last Saturday morning by unknown gunmen.

According to local sources in Aden, the attackers, traveling in a Hilux pickup truck, intercepted al-Shaer's car at a bend in the Kabuta area of Al-Mansoura district as he was heading to his school to attend the 5th Al-Nawras Robotics and Artificial Intelligence Championship 2026. The gunmen opened fire on al-Shaer before fleeing. He was taken to the hospital, where he died.

Dr. Abdul Rahman al-Shaer, a prominent figure in the Yemeni Islah Party, was a leading figure in education and a well-known activist with an influential leadership and educational role at Al-Nawras Private Schools, where he left an indelible mark.
