The United States strongly condemns the assassination of Dr. Abdulrahman al-Shaer, director of Al-Nawras Private School, which took place in Aden last Saturday.

In a statement issued by the U.S. Embassy in Yemen on its official X platform, the United States expressed its deep condemnation of this criminal act. The statement also urged the relevant authorities to conduct a thorough and effective investigation to ensure that those responsible for this cowardly act are held accountable and do not escape justice.

The Embassy affirmed in its statement the United States’ continued support for the Yemeni government’s efforts to promote stability and security throughout the country, which is a fundamental part of the international community’s commitment to achieving peace in Yemen.

According to local sources in Aden, unidentified gunmen targeted Dr. Abdul Rahman al-Shaer, a leading figure in the Yemeni Islah Party, as he was heading to his school in the Kabuta area of Al-Mansoura district to attend the fifth Al-Nawras Robotics and Artificial Intelligence Championship 2026. The attack occurred when a Hilux pickup truck blocked his path near his school. The gunmen then got out and opened fire on him, killing him instantly. Despite attempts to save him and transport him to the hospital, he succumbed to his injuries.

Dr. Abdul Rahman al-Shaer was a prominent figure in education, serving as Chairman of the Board of Directors of Al-Nawras Private Schools. He was also a leading member of the Yemeni Islah Party and made extensive contributions to education and community service, making him a prominent figure in these fields.
