Deputy Head of the Information and Culture Department of the Yemeni Islah Party, Mr. Adnan al-Audayni, said that Yemeni unity is a historical achievement that we can be proud of because many nations have failed to achieve it. People are still striving to achieve unity in many regions of the world and countries are keen on it.

In a series of tweets he posted on his official Twitter page on the occasion of the 33rd National Day of the Republic of Yemen, the anniversary of Yemeni unity, May 22, al-Audayni stressed that abandoning unity is a mistake no less dangerous than abandoning the Republic.

He indicated that Yemen is the land in which its lofty sons live, and it is the land that extends from Al-Mahra to Midi and from Aden to Saada. Yemen is also an identity rooted in the hearts of its people, where many projects have been unable to detract from it, including the years of emergency division in the history of Yemen before the glorious unity was achieved on May 22, 1990.

Al-Audayni made it clear that unity does not bear the mistakes of politicians, and it is not right to present it as a price for previous mistakes, nor as a sacrifice for future ambitions.

He continued, "At the time of intercontinental alliances and large blocs, Yemenis realize that their interests, which they aspire to achieve and strive for generation after generation, will not be achieved in light of projects that seek rupture and diaspora."
