A journalist activist died just two days after he was released by the Houthi militia, who was kidnapped a year ago in Taiz governorate — southwest of the country.

Local sources confirmed that the journalist, Anwar Arrukn, died due to torture on Thursday just two days after he was released from the prisons of Houthi militia in the city of Saleh, east of the city of Taiz — southwest of Yemen.

The activist, Anwar Arrukn is a member of the Arab Socialist Baath party — Taiz branch. He was kidnapped by Houthi militia a year ago. While in prison he was beaten and severely tortured, and then the Houthi militia released him after realizing that he was about to die.

It is worth noting that about 120 Yemeni abductees have been killed under torture in the Houthi militia prisons, while there are still more than 14,000 prisoners in the militia prisons, according to human rights reports.
