The Yemeni government said that Iran continues to smuggle weapons, ballistic missiles and drones to the Houthi coup militia by using fishing ships in Yemen's territorial waters to camouflage.

In a hypothetical meeting held on Monday evening, the government expressed its strong condemnation of the hostile activities that are carried out repeatedly by Iranian ships in Yemeni territorial waters, which leads to the curettage of fish wealth and shooting incidents on Yemeni fishing boats and fishermen, in addition to using these ships as cover to smuggle weapons to the Houthi militia.

The government called on the United Nations and the permanent members of the United Nations Security Council to condemn these hostile activities and to put more pressure on the Iranian regime to stop its hostile practices, being an attack on the sovereignty, security, and stability of Yemen.

During the meeting, the Minister of Fish Wealth, Fahd Kafayin, revealed the illegal fishing by Iranian ships accompanied by continuous violations of Yemeni marine waters, the last of which was in the west of the Socotra archipelago and in the Arabian Sea.

The minister pointed out that Iranian fishing ships entered last week no more than 9 miles from the Yemeni coast, southwest of the Socotra archipelago and in front of the two Yemeni islands of Abdul-Koori and Samha, stressing that violations of those ships continue to tamper with Yemeni marine resources and smuggling weapons to the coup militias.

The Information Minister, Muammar al-Iryani, had said that Iran was using fishing ships in our country's territorial waters to camouflage and also as a cover for smuggling weapons, ballistic missiles and drones to the Houthi militia.

The Minister strongly condemned the hostile activities carried out by Iranian ships in Yemeni territorial waters repeatedly to bulldoze fish resources and shootings of Yemeni fishing boats and fishermen.

In a statement to the official news agency, the Minister added that official reports confirmed that Iranian ships had recently crossed the borders of our regional waters in the form of groups in the southwestern regions of the Socotra Archipelago and the Arab Sea, taking advantage of the turbulence of the sea and the difficulty of movement.

He pointed out that ships claiming to be fishing ships were previously captured, but in reality, they were arms-smuggling ships for the Houthi militia.

Al-Iryani called on the United Nations and the permanent members of the UN Security Council to condemn these hostile activities and put pressure on the Iranian regime to stop its practices, being an attack on the sovereignty, security and stability of Yemen, as well as a threat to the security of the region and a flagrant violation of international laws and covenants that protect the rights of states and regulate the fishing process.

On June 30, a British report had reported that Iranian ships had conducted the largest illegal fishing operation in the world, in Yemeni territorial waters, over the past year.

According to the report published by the British "Middle East" website, at least 192 Iranian boats illegally fished in Yemeni territorial waters and Somalia last year, which depleted food supplies in countries where millions face severe food shortages.

The report quoted Global two organizations, Fishing Watch (GFW) specializing in monitoring and tracking fishing ships, and Trig Matt Tram (TMT) that provide information on fisheries, confirmed the Iranian fleet's illegal fishing operations without obtaining fishing permits in the northwest of the Indian Ocean in the Somali and Yemeni coasts (especially the Socotra Archipelago), of which 144 ships were monitored in the territorial waters of Yemen during the fishing season.
