Marib... A new era of development and economic recovery for the land of Sheba

Marib governorate, northeast of Yemen, has been experiencing rapid economic growth for four years in various fields due to the stability of the city so that it became the model of security and development.

Who visits the city of Marib sees the recovery movement in various areas of life, as well as the projects that have been completed and the projects that are still being implemented such as paving asphalt road, sidewalks, construction of buildings and planting trees on the sides of roads. The development wheel is proceeding at a high pace.

The development process in the governorate included various areas, which made the city to become a destination for the Yemeni citizen from all the governorates of Yemen to work and trade in. Marib has become a vast city as a result of the accelerated construction process being carried out.

Anti-Corruption

Since the liberation of the governorate, the local authority in the governorate represented by Major General Sultan Ali al-Arada has given the economic and development side great attention, making the governorate to be a land of hope for the economy in light of the country's war against the coup of the Houthi militia backed by Iran.

Observers and economists believe that the governor's focus on fighting corruption, fighting the influential, impose law and order on everyone, and provide basic services such as water, electricity, fuel, and health continuously, in addition to security success and stability of life. Through all what has been mentioned, the governorate was able to attract traders and investors, which made Marib be a place for competition between businessmen.

Distinctive services

The local authority in the governorate was able to provide daily services to citizens despite the huge increase in the population as a result of the continued emigration from areas controlled by the Houthi coup.

The governorate provides a petrol service at a lower price compared to prices in all governorates. Where the price of a 20 liter of gasoline is 3500 Riyals only, while most citizens get free electricity service, and makes it easier for citizens to get water. Where the price of tanked water - a 6 thousand liter - does not exceed 3 thousand Riyals and the price of a domestic gas cylinder is 1500 riyals.

Informed sources reported that the local authority provides many services free of charge for those displaced civilians, including water and gas, and many foods produced by the governorate.

New projects

The governorate witnessed the opening of several new commercial and industrial projects during the past years. The number of such projects reached more than 900 projects, including large commercial banks, money exchanging companies and large restaurants, in addition to providing many job opportunities.

Informed sources said that the governor Major General Sultan al-Arada has ordered the Chamber of Commerce in the governorate to provide all necessary facilities for commercial banks and all economic projects in the city, which greatly helped businessmen and investors.

Sources in the Chamber of Commerce said that the number of private banks in the province reached 8 commercial banks, three of them are governmental banks and the other five are private banks, all were opened last year, while the number of money exchange companies are more than twenty companies, although the number of these companies in the past did not exceed 4 companies.

Giant installations

Last December, Governor Major General Sultan al-Arada launched the process's construction of the first phase of the residential and commercial city of Sheba belonging to the Commercial Zubain Company, which it cost amounted $300 million as the first modern residential and commercial city in the governorate.

The total area of the residential city is 800 thousand square meters. This equal-designs city includes commercial areas, tourist hotels, residential towers, commercial offices and multi-level residential villas to suit different economic categories.

Also, schemes and designs include public buildings and facilities, including schools, health centers, recreation areas, markets, gardens, and mosques. The schemes include sanitation, electricity and other infrastructure.

According to the investor, the first phase of the implementation of the residential city will provide about 1500 permanent and temporary jobs.

The first sports stadium in the governorate, with an initial cost of 233 million Riyals, is currently being constructed. According to informed sources, 40% of the project has been completed.

The project includes an artificial grass-lined Olympic Stadium. This stadium accommodates about 5,000 fans and a VIP platform with accessories.

Marib governorate is looking forward to the opening of the gas plant to produce electricity with a capacity of 120 megawatts to secure the electricity needs of the governorate and to dispense with the electricity purchased. And this project is about to be completed.

The city is also looking to complete the construction of the Marib International Airport, which is currently undergoing massive construction work.

The local authority has succeeded in building the University of Sheba, in which more than 6,000 students are studying. Currently, the University buildings are being expanded and developed with local funding. The University offers 12 buses allocated for the transfer of female students from the directorates to the University in order to encourage girls to enroll in higher education.

The governorate has witnessed the opening of several tourist projects, including the Istanbul Hotel, which costs more than one billion Riyals, and the Louvre Hotel, as well as opening many commercial markets and malls such as City Center, Mall of the Consumer and others.

The city is full of entertainment venues and parks. The gardens and various rest houses are in the middle of the city. Recently, the city has seen the opening of a number of swimming pools and steam baths.

Despite the great successes of the local authority, the governorate still lacks many infrastructure projects such as sanitation and other projects.
