Interior Minister reveals the latest close cooperation between Houthi militias, al-Qaeda and ISIS

الخميس 17 يناير-كانون الثاني 2019 الساعة 11 صباحاً / Al-Islah.net - Aden

The Interior Minister, Ahmed al-Maisari said yesterday that the glaring evidences have proved the Houthis stand behind the execution of several terrorist operations targeting security and military leaders in the interim capital Aden and some liberated governorates.

In a press conference held in Aden, the Interior Minister said that the Houthis were behind the terrorist operations have been implemented under the name of the two organizations of al-Qaeda and ISIS them, after the arrest of a terrorist cell that was carrying out assassinations and terrorist operations in the governorate of Lahj.

"The terrorist cell admitted that it was receiving training in the governorates of Dhamar and Sanaa at the hands of Houthi leaders in order to carry out assassinations and bombings aiming at destabilizing security and stability in the country," al-Maisari said.

Al-Maisari added that "the security services will refer the case files to the Public Prosecutor's Office. These files are complete with a political and terrorist nature, and will be referred to the Public Prosecutor's Office and the judiciary for investigations procedures and completing the files in preparation for their trial."

"We will not be rushed to reveal the facts we have until the necessary investigations and procedures are completed and the case is referred to the prosecution and the judiciary for conducting the trial," al-Misri said.

What enhances the speech of al-Maisari's on this issue is the arrest of a militant cell operating for the favor of Houthi by security forces in the southern governorate of Lahj.

The director of the security of the governorate of Lahj, Saleh al-Sayyid, said on Tuesday that the security forces arrested a terrorist cell consisting of eight people working for the Iranian Houthi militias.

The statements of the Interior Minister come to enhance the talk about the relations that have been hidden between Houthi militias on the one hand and al-Qaeda and ISIS on the other. These relations have appeared on surface over the past three years.

In an interview in July 2017, the Saudi ambassador to Yemen, Muhammad al-Jabir, had revealed cooperation between al-Qaeda in Yemen and the armed Houthi militia. And that these relations crystallized through the exchange of prisoners between the two parties through mediation by some tribes.

In last August, press reports had revealed close collaboration between the pro-Iranian Houthi militia and the terrorist al-Qaeda to perpetuate the conflict in Yemen and ignite inter-tribal fights.

The documents showed that the Houthis provided a protection cover for an al-Qaeda leader in order to kidnap 45 Yemeni soldiers, at least 14 of them were killed and the rest have been handed over to the ruling coup group in the capital Sanaa, while well-informed sources said the Houthis ignored the calls of the families of abducted soldiers. For their part, the Houthis have released the al-Qaeda leader, considering him a national and cooperative person.

In the past, there was talk of suspicious relations between al-Qaeda and the Houthi group on one hand and Ali Saleh and Iran on the other hand. And despite the different doctrinal background of the two parties, the coordination of the processes between the two sides showed these relations on the surface to clarify that they were rooted relations. And that the cells of al-Qaeda, ISIS and Iran in the south governorates work for the Houthi project. All these organizations consider the tools of the Iranian project hostile to Yemen and the Gulf, and are working to confuse the Yemeni army and the Arab Alliance.
