The identification between Houthi, al-Qaeda and ISIS... Suspicious relations and mutual recruitment of terrorism

الأربعاء 16 يناير-كانون الثاني 2019 الساعة 12 صباحاً / Al-Islah.net - Exclusive

The terrorist attack put into circulation by the media in the past few days, in which the organization of ISIS has committed the murder of four young Yemenis in the Yakla district of the governorate of al-Baydah, has restored the hidden ties between terrorist and extremist groups in Yemen in the scene, especially between Houthi, al-Qaeda and ISIS.

The terrorist attack is a crime of execution carried out by armed men of the ISIS against young Yemenis who were on their way to the governorate of Marib to join the ranks of the national army, which is facing the Houthi coup militias. The scene looked appalling, as the perpetrators of the terrorist attack described these young people as apostates, threatening the national army with more attacks.

In view of the benefited party of these terrorist operations, these operations only serve the Houthi militia, which sees government forces as an enemy hindering their imamate project. While prominent activists on social networking sites said that the operation proved the involvement of Houthi militia with its hidden ties to extremist groups, this group benefited from its terrorist operations targeting the Yemeni army, which is fighting to restore the legitimacy in Yemen.

Despite the exposure of relations between these extremist groups, their black box is still full of secrets and ambiguity. There are dubious relations between the two organizations of the ISIS and al-Qaeda with the Houthi group and Iran behind them, although the sectarian reference of the two sides differs from each other, but they are very much congruent with the means that adopt violence and terrorism.

The philosophy of murder and torture

The philosophy of killing and torture carried out by the Houthi militias on the one hand, and the organizations of al-Qaeda and ISIS are almost identical. Since its rebellion against the state in 2004, the Houthi group has reproduced tactics of al-Qaeda and later on tactics of ISIS to spread terror among its opponents, both through murder and abuse, the use of torture against abductees, and the portrayal of crime scenes and the bombing of buildings.

These groups - Houthi and ISIS - also spreading terror among recruits in the army, the use of Iranian weapons, the concentration on civilians and their use as human shields, the transformation of hospitals and public facilities into military barracks, in addition to the similarity of the two groups in the destruction of historical sites and monuments, as well as the abduction and trafficking women and recruiting them in implementing terrorist acts.

In the past December, local sources confirmed that the Iranian Houthi militia had dug a net of tunnels and hallways connected to each other, under houses that broke into by the militias in several neighborhoods in the city of Hodeidah, especially July 7, and the neighborhood of al-Halaqah reaching the public park in the city center. These tunnels are similar to the ISIS's tunnels, which were found in the Iraqi city of Mosul after being recovered from its grip last year.

Exchanging employment of terrorism

Just as the Houthis inherited the army camps and their weapons from the former president Ali Saleh before they killed him later, they also inherited from him the organization of al-Qaeda, but later they established their own terrorist group as an extension of the Iranian ISIS in Syria and Iraq.

According to international observers on terrorism and extremist groups, Iranian experiences have played a major role in establishing a branch of ISIS in Yemen and operating it in favor of the Houthis in order to present themselves as partners of the international community in the war on terror. In general, the ISIS and terrorism have been heavily employed in Yemen before the coup of Houthi militias carried out against the Yemeni State on September 21, 2014, through the implementation of numerous terrorist operations. Perhaps the most important of these operations is the bombing of a car bomb in front of the Police College targeted a queue of students applying to the Police College. This terrorist attack resulted in the killing and wounding of dozens of students, as well as the bombing of the al-Hashush Mosque in al-Jiraf neighborhood, although this Mosque is affiliated to Houthi group, the bombing of al-Bilayli Mosque during the prayer of Eid al-Fitr of 2015, and the bombing of the Badr Mosque, which is operated by a Houthi preacher in al-Safyah area in Sanaa and resulted in killing the same preacher during the Eid sermon.

These are just examples of terrorist operations carried out in the capital Sana'a and attributed to the ISIS. These operations were used to justify the terror of the Houthi militias, their coup and their control over the country and its institutions.

What is surprising and questionable by the observers about the Yemeni issue is that after the declaration of the Hazm Storm in March 2015, no terrorist activity attributed to the so-called ISIS in Sana'a capital was recorded against the Houthi militias, their military positions and camps. Instead, ISIS's activities have transformed dramatically to areas of contact with the National Army and the Popular Resistance Forces, which are engaged in constant battles with the Houthi militias to restore the state. The army and resistance forces have become targets of terrorism, unlike the Houthis who have always portrayed themselves as the target of ISIS.

Thus, the ISIS and al-Qaeda remained work alongside the Houthis in al-Bayda, Taiz and some southern governorates. The last of these operations was the terrorist attack carried out by the ISIS, including the so-called "al-Thahab" in al-Bayda, killing four soldiers last week, while one of his relatives (Saif al-Thahab), one of the prominent Houthi leaders. This reveals the extent of collusion and coordination between the Houthis and the so-called ISIS. These relations between extremist groups also emerged in Taiz governorate, which produced security chaos, coordinated terrorist operations and assassinations of officers and soldiers of the National Army in the liberated parts of Taiz.

Enemies of peace

Perhaps the most important features that combine the bloody triangle -Houthi, ISIS and al-Qaeda - is that these groups do not live and multiply only in the environment of violence. These groups are keen on continuing the state of violence and war. All these groups are considered enemies of peace, security and stability. The war, for these groups, means the continuation of their life cycle, and for them peace is a cut for the arteries of their breathing based on violence and terrorism. These groups consider political stability as a direct threat to their presence that rejects political action, the idea of co-existence and acceptance of the other.

In his speech before the United Nations General Assembly last September, President Abed Rabbo Mansour Hadi said Iran endangers international navigation and supports terrorism through the Houthis, al-Qaeda and ISIS. And that Iran is targeting regional and international waters and follows the policy of sinking the countries with drugs and supporting the terrorism of Houthi, al-Qa'eda and ISIS.

And reports of the United Nations and the Security Council were talking about the relationship of the Houthis with the al-Qaeda and ISIS, as well as investigations also revealed the involvement of the Houthi militias planted explosive devices in Yemeni cities and attributed to the ISIS.

In the past years, Iran has been able to attract many al-Qaeda fighters, including first-line leaders and middle leaders. A rapprochement between al-Qaeda and Houthi has been done under the auspices of Iran, and this rapprochement led to conducting deals between the Houthis and al-Qaeda to exchange prisoners in al-Bayda. At the same time, the Houthi militia refrained from issuing a statement supporting the military operation against al-Qaeda in Mukalla and Abyan in 2016.

Politicians believe that Iran has created a new threat to the security of the region and the international community, and it found Yemen a breeding ground for this threat. The operations of ISIS were constantly for justifying the expansion of the Houthi militia in many Yemeni governorates under the cover of fighting al-Qaeda.

Confirmed evidences

The features of coordination between Houthi militia and the two organizations of al-Qaeda and ISIS are no longer hidden. These features have emerged in parallel with the field setbacks and the successive defeats of the Houthi militias on the battlefields with the Yemeni army forces supported by Arab Alliance, and with these defeats, the level of bleeding of the Houthi leaders, who have been suffocated, has increased.

The Yemeni government and the Arab Alliance have realized the danger of coordination between these parties, which believe in violence and terrorism, and it has been confirmed that Iran is the main supporter of terrorist organizations with their different doctrines and names, and seeks to stop the confrontation against its expansionist project.

Not long ago, the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Interior, Major General Muhammad bin Aboud Sharif, revealed confirmed evidence of coordination on the reality between the leaders of al-Qaeda and the ISIS on the one hand, and the Houthi militia on the other, to confront the Yemeni army in some locations to carry out terrorist acts aimed at destabilizing the country. The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Interior mentioned what happened during the progress of the government forces in a number of areas including al-Baida, where al-Qaeda and the ISIS are waging military operations against the national army, with the knowledge that the Houthis are present in these places. And during the last period and before the advance of the army, there haven't been recorded any direct confrontations between these three extremist groups.

Al-Sharif pointed out that these three groups have agreed to confront the legitimate government with different roles for each organization. Al-Sharif added that the evidence obtained by the ministry, which is being monitored from co-existence in one area that brings together al-Qaeda, ISIS and Houthi militias, confirms the existence of close connections and coordination in the positions and mechanism of confronting the army.

Women: Jihadi or Zainabite

The similarity between the three groups of violence - the Houthi, al-Qaeda and ISIS - has been reached the extent of matching in the coordination of women's roles within extremist organizations in their various forms. These groups are correspond to the education of individuals on extremist ideas, charging others with infidelity, fund-collecting, arms smuggling and their recent involvement in implementing terrorist operations.

Women struggler in Al-Qaeda and ISIS emerge in the recruitment of women and the formation of battalions that carry out killings, while the Zainabite battalions appeared in the Houthi militias, which is a name imitates the style of Iran, to terrorize society and suppress any feminist movements, where these battalions have carried out during the last period various crimes represented in storming homes, kidnapping, detention, torture, abuse and suppression of demonstrations, as happened in Sana'a and other Yemeni cities.

The Houthi Zainabite battalions are engaged in the laying of mines, explosive devices, espionage and various acts of violence. These were revealed by special units in the national army during the past two years after the arrest of a female cell sent by the Houthis to Marib and Al-Jawf.

As the ISIS and al-Qaeda create a qualitative development of their feminist battalions and give them violece actions, Houthi group is also creating a qualitative development in their Zainabite battalions regarding training, arming and tasks. The two parties are also keen to conduct military displays of women's battalions to spread terror among the community.
