On Friday, January 11, 2019, Yemeni Organization for combating Human Trafficking published a report revealing the abduction and disappearance of about 120 women in the capital Sana'a and its governorate as a whole.

The report, which was read by «Marib Press» newspaper, pointed that "a number of disappeared women are detained in the Criminal Investigation Department in the capital Sanaa, and these women are released in exchange for large sums of money, where the detainees are forced to pay these amounts after several months of their kidnapping, detention and subjection of torturing and the inability of their relatives to reach them; where they find themselves obliged to submit to blackmail in exchange for their release in order to preserve their reputation.

The organization quoted one of the freed captives as saying that "Her house was raided and looting her jewelry and belongings as well as she has been hidden for more than two months, and that an investigation was conducted with her and found herself forced to print a number of papers," pointing out that that she had to give up all her belongings, jewelry and money for her release.

The released woman said she had been detained in a villa on Taiz Street, revealing that dozens of women and girls whose parents do not know anything about them are detained in the detaintion.

Another woman reported that she had been detained in a number of places, including the Criminal Investigation Department in addition to one of the heavily guarded villas on Taiz Street, which is full of detainees. The women detainees reported that the two persons responsible for the investigation and torture were the so-called «Ahmed Matar» and «Hassan Betran» and others with fake names.

The organization has obtained information from two staff in the Criminal Investigation Department stating that "one of the people who caries out such dirty operations became a rich man during these months and has bought a luxury villa worth 150 million riyals near the conference hall in the area of Assir - Sana'a."

This information also reported that there is an another person in the Hizyaz area owned a lot of lands and cars after being a poor man worked with his father to collect empty water bottles to earn their day livelihood before turning into colonel-ranked security officer practices corruption of power and enriching himself illegally.

The Yemeni Organization for combating Human Trafficking condemned this disgraceful crime and declares its solidarity with the women victims and their families, demanding that all officials bear their legal, moral and humanitarian responsibilities to put an end to this grave and unprecedented case and to arrest those involved in such violations and abuses accountable and punished in accordance with the law. The organization also confirmed its readiness to provide all information it has, for each serious investigation into the case.
