In the latest crime on Friday evening, unidentified gunmen assassinated the journalist Zaki al-Saqaldi, a leader of the Yemeni Islah Party in Dhali governorate, two days after the assassination of a leader in Aden and the attempt of assassination of another leader in Dhali.

According to eyewitnesses, unknown gunmen opened fire on al-Saqaldi, who was driving in front of the telecommunication of the city of Dhali, on the main street, killing him instantly and the perpetrators then fled to an unknown destination. They explained that the gunmen who carried out the crime were riding a motorcycle.

Al-Saqaldi is a member of the Political Department of the Yemeni Islah Part in Dhali governorate and the editor of al-'Ataa newspaper, which is issued by the Islah in the governorate.

This crime comes only two days after the assassination of the head of the Yemeni Charitable Society for Social Welfare CSSW — in Aden, Muhammad Abdullah Al-Shujaina, whose body was found in Khor Maksar district after his abduction and torture. This crime also comes one day after the rescue of the leader of the Yemeni Islah Party in the governorate of Dhali, Sheikh Adel al-Qadhi from a similar assassination attempt in the region of al-Hanaka while solving a problem and seriously injured his guard.

Assassination crimes have increased in the southern governorates, especially in the city of Aden, targeting leaders of the Yemeni Islah Party, imams, preachers and aid workers who played a prominent role in confronting the Houthi militias and liberating Aden and the governorates from the coup militias.
