Secretary-General of the Yemeni Islah Party, Abdulwahab al-Anisi, expressed his hope that Saudi Arabia will find a way for getting out of the existing dispute between the Yemeni government and the UAE over the island of Socotra.
“We hope that Saudi Arabia will be able to get out of this impasse that happened over Socotra Island,” al-Anisi stressed.
Al-Anisi also stressed that the position of Islah is the same as the position of the legitimate government. “If you take a look at the statement issued by the pro-legitimacy parties, you will find that we are part of that statement.”
Regarding the political solution, as well as their meeting with the new UN envoy to Yemen, Martin Griffiths, al-Anisi said: “In fact, Griffiths did not disclose everything he wanted, but through the meeting that was done with him, he seemed to be realized that the key issue that could open the door to a political solution was the weapon issue”.
The Secretary-General of the Yemeni Islah Party stressed that the success of the political solution depends on the implementation of the resolution No. 2216, adding, “and we hope that all efforts are directed towards removing the basic obstacle that was the cause of what has happened and what is happening in Yemen so far, which is the issue of the insurgents who carry out a revolution against the legitimate state.”
