Confronting Houthis outside the Legitimacy threatens the federal Yemen

الإثنين 23 إبريل-نيسان 2018 الساعة 09 مساءً / Al-Islah.net/ almawqeapost

A political party in Yemen does not bring up the argument as it is in the Yemeni Islah Party, which was linked to the events that Yemen experienced during the periods of peace and war. It was a title for many positions, developments and stations.

In this dialogue, “almawqea.net” addressed some questions raised from time to time and addressed to the head of the Information and Cultural Department in the Yemeni Islah Party, Mr. Ali Ali al-Jaradi, as part of a series of dialogues conducted by the site with many leaders of political parties and independent political figures in Yemen, to know their position and reading the events.

Q: As a Party, how do you view the developments in Yemen after three years of war?

The coup receded and faded to the ground, the National Army is approaching the center of the city of Saada and it is at the gates of Sana'a and advancing in al-Beida and Taiz, and if you look at the map, you will find that the National Army surrounds the coup from all directions except the distance between Medi and Hays. When closing Port of Hodeidah, the last passageway of the coup will be shut.

On the part of Politics, there is an international consensus on what is happening in Yemen in view of Houthi group as a coup militia and support the legitimate authority in Yemen.

Today, the Yemenis, socially and culturally, line up with their political diversity against the militias of the coup with the racist and sectarian ideology. The practices of the militias of the coup for brutality, abuse, the torture, the displacement and the explosion against the society have revealed the racial and sectarian project that derives its legitimacy from the myth which says that Allah has chosen this family alone, lies in the caves of Maran, to rule and the science, without all other human beings, and that it has the right to prevail Yemenis as country natives and slaves are owned by the master.

Economically, Yemenis are living in a very difficult situation because of the coup, the grab the state, the confiscation of public and private funds and the collapse of the Yemeni economy.

Q: What do you want in the Islah Party?

The Yemen Islah Party is a Yemeni national political party with its Arab and Islamic identity. It is the son of the Yemeni land and its national vein exceeds the sectarian dimensions, geography, dynasties and ethnicities. It is socially rooted along the Yemeni map and extends horizontally and vertically in the Yemeni society.

We believe in pluralism and federal Yemen according to the outputs of the National Dialogue, and that Yemen must be within its Arab environment and a source of safety and tranquility for our neighbors and brothers in the Arabian Gulf, by virtue of the inevitability of geography and common destiny.

Q: From your point of view, what is the solution in light of the decline of the political role of the parties?

We believe that Yemen must govern by consensus and agreement between all parties and political forces without giving preference to numerical democracy at this stage. We, at the Yemeni Islah Party, declare that consensual democracy is one of our choices for the next stage. We are ready to discuss participatory democracy, provided they are not in Geographical or doctrinal quotas.

We have previous experiences of a limited participation in power, the industry of participation in the opposition, and common denominators with all parties and national forces, and accordingly we understand any concerns of any national party, or regional ally, and the interest of Yemen and the restoration of its state and the stability of the region is more important than any other calculation.

Q: How do you view the military movements carried out by Saleh's son in the western coast of Yemen with Emirati support and away from legitimacy?

We are with any movement addressed against the coup by any persons or entities or blocs on condition of join under the authority of Yemeni legitimacy headed by President Hadi and the outputs of the National Dialogue, and the historical experience extended from Somalia to Afghanistan to Libya, Syria and Yemen says that the multiplicity of military interfaces in the face of one goal without agreement on the authority of one decision, its results were harsh and bitter.

But Yemenis have legitimate authority supported nationally, regionally and internationally. Then, why are forces created outside the framework of legitimacy?

Can we hear a convincing answer from those who supports the establishment of military forces against Yemeni legitimacy, its official institutions and legal powers? If we fight the coup as a rebellion against legitimacy, and the Arab Alliance declared that its objectives are for supporting the legitimacy, the result of supporting any forces outside the legitimate authority may lead us to answer the question about targeting Yemen as a federal State or attempts to pre-divide the State distributed between military forces carrying out non-national agendas and the political forces, including Islah, welcomed the appointment of Ali Saleh al-Ahmar as the Commander of the Reserve Forces as a model of unity under the umbrella of Yemeni legitimacy in the face of the coup.

Q: How do you find the relationship between you and the Arab Alliance, today?

Islah values the role of Saudi Arabia and its leadership and people in supporting the Yemeni legitimacy headed by President Hadi and the fight against the coup and support the humanitarian situation as well as the role of the United Arab Emirates in the coalition.

Let me clarify an important point which is that Yemen pays high price from the lives of its sons and infrastructure, and the tragic consequences of the war will extend for the coming years as a theater of war, the war is aimed at restoring the Yemeni State, as well as stopping the expansion of Iran and its militias towards the Arabian Gulf from the southern gate.

Yemen is paying a price to restore the State and to protect its neighbors. As a result, the relationship between the legitimate authority and its political components with the brothers in the Coalition Countries must be based on brotherhood, peer and common interests in facing the dangers in the region, which can be summed up in the Iranian sectarian project and the fractional project adopted by some international forces.

Q: Why are some people trying to derogate the role of Islah Party despite what it offers?

Islah offers great sacrifices in prisons, detention centers and in the face of rebellion in the fronts through the involvement of its supporters as individuals in the National Army providing more painful sacrifices related to the assassination of a number of its symbols in some liberated governorates.

Sacrifices of Islah are very great and we do not want to turn these sacrifices into a digital statistics as a kind of benefaction to the homeland in return for the sacrifices of the great Yemenis, and do not different from our partners and comrades of struggle from all the political and national forces. We have a comprehensive documentation of the sacrifices of Islah for our homeland that deserves all that, and any other accounts do not courage us to provide a tax our homeland deserved and the return of stability to it.

We are with a comprehensive, sustainable and final peace that does not bear the seeds of any future wars, according to the guidelines agreed upon nationally and internationally, foremost of which are the outputs of the National Dialogue and UN Resolution 2216.

Q: For the GPC, it seems divided in more than one version since Saleh's death, how do you read the reality and future of the party today?

We support the return of political life, pluralism, democracy, freedoms and human rights. We wish the cohesion and unity of the General People's Congress as an old party has a national extension in the Yemeni arena. Any decline or division for any party, I consider it as a national danger harms the cohesion and the social fabric, and allows the emergence of a vacuum in which extremism groups and gangs grow, and the existence of strong and cohesive parties including the General People's Congress is in favor of stability and peace, and reduces the size of militias existence and armed conflict
