Yemen’s streets are plunged into Iranian drug shipments

Yemen Today newspaper affiliated to ousted president Ali Abdullah Saleh allied with the Houthi armed group on Tuesday revealed that a big drug shipment consisting of six containers with 24 varieties of illegal drugs was delivered to Yemen in a form of gift presented to the wounded by Iran. As mentioned in the pro-Houthi newspaper, the shipment value has reached up to $1,400,000 dollars as a supplement to the Iran-backed group, which in turn will pass the load to neighboring countries. Supreme board for drugs and medical appliances in Yemen seized the suspicious shipment in the port of Hodeidah in late August 2016, but this load was confiscated by planning department at the Houthi-controlled Health Ministry where the dangerous shipment was released to be sent to the Yemeni markets peacefully, reported the newspaper. Iran's criminal history in this aspect is not new. In January 2015, Iran sent 1200 tons out of two thousand and five hundred tons of spoiled food as aid for Yemeni people. at that time, a pro-Houthi presented documents that showed that the sea freight did not meet specification and were completely spoiled. Consequently, the whole cargo was burnt. Not only Yemen has received expired food and aid as well as forbidden and dangerous materials from Iran. Iraq had also fallen victim to Iran when the last sent Bagdad in late 2004 large spoiled food shipments, which spread fear among citizens due to the ugly exploitation of suffering and siege imposed on the country for years. Moreover, other spoiled sea freights had been sent by Tehran to the besieged Gaza city in 2009. General Saeed Qassemi, leader of Ansar Hezbollah Militias that are closely linked to Ayatullah Ali Khamenei, has recently made little of the Yemeni Houthi Shiites when he described them as "dwarfs, uncivilized and street Shiites", stressing that they could not have seized the strait without the Iranian support.
