A leader in the Islah Party was survived from an attempt to assassinate him in Aden

Wednesday 18 July 2018 / Al-Islah.net - Exclusive

The wave of political assassinations targeting preachers, clerics, politicians and social figures in Aden, the interim capital of the country, is returning to the events scene after a pause of less than two months, the latest of which was the assassination of the leader of Islah Party Mr. Safwan Abdel Mawla al-Sharjabi on 9 May 2018.

This time, assassinations come under the presence of the legitimate government and the supreme leadership of the state, represented by President Abdu Rabbo Mansour Hadi, who returned to the country in the mid of the past June.

The return of the assassinations on this morning, targeting a leader of the Islah party, Sadiq Ahmed - 56 years old - by unknown gunmen on the Corolla car and Hiace bus in the neighborhood of Qallouaa in Aden while heading to his office in the communications office, where they shot him from two different directions, he miraculously survived from death but was seriously injured.

It was mentioned by Al-Sahwah.net that Mr. Sadiq Ahmed was shot in his abdomen, chest and shoulder and he was still being treated in a hospital in Aden. At the same moment, his bodyguard was severely injured and he is now in the intensive care unit.

There is information mentioned by Al-Islah.net website that Sadiq Ahmed successfully left the operating room today before Maghrib prayer, after being subjected to a failed assassination attempt in this morning. His car was hit by more than 30 rounds, but he survived. The presence of a number of citizens who were in the same scene of the incident led to thwart the getting out of gunmen from their cars and then ran away immediately after the incident.

A number of activists commented on the incident by saying that the scenario of chaos, escalation and muscle reviews is not new to the city, and they want this chaos to return again. The question is: What does it mean to return the assassinations, especially with the presence of the president?

During the last three years, the city of Aden - the south of the country - was an open arena for the disposal of a number of politicians, preachers and clerics by unknown gunmen, in addition to the deliberate burning of a number of partisan headquarters and arrests of political figures and activists, while the murders were not revealed in the city, although they are dozens of murders, and no incident or investigation has been detected so far.

Until the writing of this report, no condemnation of the incident has been taken from any political or partisan component. The security services have not yet issued any comment. The security services in the governorate are silent after every crime occurs inside the city.

On the same day, in the governorate of Aden, an attempt was also made to assassinate a Salafist leader Adel al-Ja'di by booby-trapping his car, which exploded after he got out from it in an Aden neighborhood.

Al-Ja'di is the head of the Salafiy al-Hikma al-Yamani Society in Dhali', and a member of the Nahdha movement.

Ja'di was arrested in Aden by the security authorities in 2016 before being released later.
