The French citizen, Marok Abdelkader, who was kidnapped in the prisons of the Houthi militias in Sana'a since early January 2016, arrived in Marib today. Marok was subjected to torture, and the local authority in Marib assigned a medical team from the Marib General Hospital to perform the necessary tests for him.

Marok, a 42-year-old French citizen, said during a meeting with Marib governorate county agent, Dr. Abd Rabo Muftah, and the director general of the political security branch Brigadier General Naji Hatroum, that he went to Marib based on the instructions of the French Foreign Ministry.

At the end of 2015, Marok, who works for the French Osianic company, was assigned a mission to go to Mukalla and Sanaa to collect the company's equipment. During his departure from Sana'a International Airport, the Houthi militia came and kidnapped him and hid him in an unknown place. He remained hidden for six months and subjected to torture, suspension, electricity, beatings, snow, and fire, and a year later he was transferred to the political or national security prison and allowed to communicate with his family with only two words: “I live... I am alive.”

Marok said that while he was in the jails of the militias after being transferred to the political or national security, he was accompanied by a number of Yemeni and American prisoners, including the American John, who died under torture. The militias declared that he suicided, in addition to the Yemeni citizen Jamal al-Ma'mari who got out from the prison by exchange of captivity, and he was disabled due to the torture.

Marok said the Houthi militia tortured him and was preparing a camera and asked him to admit that he was working in the intelligence services and when he refused then they returned him to torture.

Marok said, The Houthi militias have stolen all the money he had with him and the gold that his family owned. After nearly two years of torture and the intervention of the French government, the Houthi militias released him and kept him under house arrest in Sanaa. After communicating with the French Foreign Ministry and paying large amounts to the militias, he enabled access to Marib, and surrender himself to local authorities on the instructions of his country's embassy.

He showed the effects of torture on his body, which was exposed to in the prisons of the militias while was hidden in their prisons.

The meeting was attended by a number of human rights organizations and observers.
